Root CWM not formatting /system, /data, or /cache?

I bricked my internal storage (NAND) while testing ext4 on my phone, and had to make a solution involving booting from the sd card. Post in here if you have had any problems regarding formatting using the CWM I released, and if the problem seems widespread, I will release my little hack.

I have no reason to format my stuff but I will make a fresh backup and test tomorrow.

I tried doing that a few days ago and I had no problems. I did ext4 and when I formated sys, data and cache it all worked fine with no problems. The only reason I did it was cus of the muve sd card. I wanted to see if it would take the partition away.

Well, what I mean is you should have no problem with the "Format /system" et. al. options under "Mounts and Storage." On my phone, I somehow managed to kill it with bad blocks everywhere, and not even Odin could write to /data or /cache. What I'm talking about is an 'in case of emergency' flash for booting from SD.

Well in theory ext4 should be fine, I've got an ext4 kernel compile all ready for install however I can no longer test CWM properly on my phone. If someone else can test for me, come in the IRC channel and I can give you something to test.

So the CWM isn't working properly? I wanted to try out mystery's new rom, but if it isn't working properly I won't be able to return to where I was

Cwm seems to be working fine. He was working on ext4 support. I would be cautious about formatting that until the bugs are worked out. He had a problem related to that, made a workaround, and in this thread offered to make it available to anyone who has the same problem. @ the OP - Thanks for your hard work. Hopefully someone who knows more than I can explain this better.

so if I do a backup in cwm, I can install other roms and if I don't like how they are, the backup will return my phone to what I had?
