CWM Recovery, how do I go about updating it?

Word, so, I've just recently rooted my phone via ODIN with a root file that came with CWM, the only thing is, is that it's version 3, and the latest version is like 6.0 something. Would anybody please, please, PLEASE tell me how I can update it? I've been trying to update with ODIN for a good hour now whilst looking at the internet for a solution, and I couldn't find one... All help is appreciated people, thanks a ton.

I'm wanting to update it because I can't access the recovery menu to back up my srock rom so I can install a custom one. Thanks again.

Yeah, I updated it with that, whenever I went into CWM it still said 3.0, but it will let me backup and that now, so thanks anyway bud. I have a few questions though if you (or anyone else) would be so kind as to answer them, if I back up with CWM does it only back up the rom? Do I still need Titanium Backup to backup my apps/music/contacts/photos etc?

Also, if I install a new rom and erase everything when I install it, can I restore from titanium backup? Or do I need to manually add all of my contacts and apps and music back? Cheers :D

I have not personally used clockwork mod recovery but if you are making a nandroid backup with it, it should back up your entire phone as is. Like if you restore the backup, your phone will be exactly the same as the moment you backed it up.

You will still need titanium (or something similar) to restore between roms. You cant restore your CM backup on a new rom because the restore would put you back on the rom that you backed up.

Titanium will restore everything (contacts, calendar, sms, mms, etc, etc...)

Just be careful when restoring system settings between different roms as sometimes it will cause problems. :)

I always like to backup through recovery before flashing a new rom. Then if anything goes wrong with restoring apps or anything, or if you hate the new rom, you can just restore right back like you never touched your phone.

Titanium will also let you freeze any app if you are trying to troubleshoot. That way you don't have to uninstall until you know the consequences.

Thanks for the responses. I hate to ask, but the original issue still stands... I can't get back on the newest version of CWM, looks like it was just a one off thing, it's putting me back on the old CWM whenever I hold home + vol up + power. Will nandroid let me install custom roms and backup etc? Again, thanks for your help.

Sorry I couldn't answer your original question. The app is the only suggestion I have. I haven't personally dealt with cm. They don't host the flashable files on their website. Maybe someone here would be willing to pull the file out of a backup and put it up for you? Although I dunno if that would help or not because the app I supposed to flash it for you... Is that version not compatible with your device or something? I keep hoping someone else will jump in who is more familiar.

Nandroid is just a name for the backup you make through your recovery. The phone uses nand memory.

I have a few questions though if you
