Root Cyanogen 7 and Facebook

OK ive been having small issues with the CoreDroid ROM that i flashed a few weeks ago to my inspire, so I decided to have a non-sense rom a chance, Cyanogen7. By first look and feel, the best ROM ive ever used on this phone, it blows CoreDroid out of the water, just has no sense, i can live with that. But there is one issue, i cant get my contacts to link up to facebook. only a few of my contacts have photos attached to them. Any ideas, could it be thats its a non-HTC rom and doesnt have Facebook for HTC in the account sync list?

You could try uninstalling fb and then downloading again from the market. When you first sign in it will give you the option to sync your fb at that time.

yes, you are exactly right. nice little thing htc added, better photo quality too. in FB settings i would set the setting about contacts to "never sync/no contacts/no phonebook" or whatever it says. basically so fb never tries to link up contacts.

i would just download an app called "sync my pix", it does what u want, sometimes not perfectly, but once it downloads all the pics, you can manually set up pic->contacts, b/c some times nicknames in fb or your phone will cause it not to link correctly.

i think this will work for u, also fb is never syncing contacts which helps battery a lot.

It will sync up just some contacts.

Try this, go to your contacts list, press and hold on a contact of your choice to whom you want to sync their FB to your contact entry. Click on "edit contact", then press the "menu" key at the bottom of the phone, then click on "join". 90% of the time it will give you a contact or two, or multiple entries of the same contact to manually sync with your contact entry. This of course will not work without the FB app logged into and the sync option set to on under accounts.

But after reading the post above, I think I'm going to give that sync my pix a try because, for the same reason, do not like staying logged into the FB app because often it pings/syncs to often, even with juice defender settings on mobile data pinging set to two hours, FB is just one of those apps that's able to keep reaching out every 5 min...Hate it.

Would it work if we took the .apk for the facebook for htc sense file from the stock rom and place it on whatever non-sense rom you are running? You know to take it from the /system/app folder and place it in the /system/app folder on the new rom.
Would that work?
