Root cyanogen, MIUI, or......

Kopitar32

Newbie
Well I've been sick for the last few days and to ease the boredum, I've been flashing all kinds of ROMs, kernels, and themes; but I'm having a difficult time what my daily should be.

I've previously been running cyanogen 6.1 and it was pretty good, though 7 still has alot of FC and such so I'm going to wait and try again once its a stable release. Right now imbrunning the latest version of MIUI and there are some great things but also some bad. The message app is a complete fail, which is my most used app. So even though it might be the best ROM I've used, one app may be its downfall.

Anyways, any suggestions as to how I can change the default messaging app on MIUI, or some advice on some smooth, stable ROMs I could flash would be cool.

Thanks!

i would suggest Cyanogen 7 RC2. but start off fresh. it works great with no FCs to me.

i had problems before with FCs but found out the reason. it was because of Titanium Backup and me restoring system files from previous roms and other CM7 nightlies accidentally.

cm7 works great for me too. i try other roms for a couple days and always end up back to it. i ran miui for a day and it drove me nuts, lol. i dint care for the message app either,i hated my emiticons being smilies instead of androids, and i had alot of trouble checking my email with it. i also had so use launcher pro cause i couldnt stand all my apps bein out in the open with the stock launcher.

id give cm7 another shot. as was said,do a clean install and do not use titanuim to restore anything but apps and their data(white writing). im still using the nightlies,i just flashed 17 this morning :)

CM7 RC2 FTW. RC1 sucked and I had Gmail problems but so far RC2 is great. Battery life still sucks (especially with WiFi on) but I can deal with it.

Well the I know that the kernel has more affect on battery life than the ROM does, so I'll probably flash a version of invisiblek along with it....what effect does the radio have on battery life?

I ran MIUI for about 15 minutes...and NAND'd back to IncROM1.4. I feel so sorry for IP users after that experience, talk about crippling a phone.

I run cm7 rc2 with golauncher. I've had no problems with either.
MIUI (the chinese devs) started changing too much stuff instead of focusing on fixes. The more stuff they changed, the more problems the rom had imo. Now, the chinese devs are basing it on cm7.

I have been running Miui for over 3 months. Yes there have been some trying builds but .... it is (for me) the best. I have no problems with build 3.5, zero, nada. . We will see what happens with the 3.18 build. Lots changing. Can you say Gingerbread is coming!

Made the jump from MIUI to CM7 RC2. Had all kinds of problems with RC1 but RC2 seems to have ironed them out. I really can't say anything bad about this rom except I wasn't getting Gmail syncing. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again and it works as it should now.

Love the speed and the battery life is pretty nice too.

The old TV turn off effect when I hit the standby button is the best!

I'm not sure I would ever want to switch again, it's that solid.

**Actually I did have to install Dialer One, I missed the T9 contact search. MIUI had this nativaly
