Help Cyanogen - No Gmail!?

Phone: T-mobile MyTouch 3G (original)

Successfully running Cyanogen firmware 2.1.
Kernel version: 2.6.34

Problem is, I dont have Gmail. There is no icon for it anywhere, and it is not showing new Gmail messages. when i go to settings - syncs/accounts, it says it is sync'ing calendar and Gmail with my gmail account. But I dont get the Gmail messages, I cant even find where the Gmail app is!
Also, I would like it to sync contacts too, but not sure why it is not....?
Calendar works good though.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

maybe try flashing gapps again.
