Root Cyanogenmod 7.1 or Miui

I rooted my phone a while ago but unrooted once stock Froyo came out. I'm now looking to get a Gingerbread-based rom. I saw that Cyanogenmod 7.1 just came out, but I'm a little wary about the poor battery life (a big concern for me). I've also heard that Miui is very good. I'm going back and forth between those two.

I've downloaded Cyanogenmod 7.1 (is it better to download the nightly or the stable version?), but what is the newest version of Miui - I've done several searches but I've gotten varying results.

Also, what would everyone suggest is the better rom? I know it comes down to personal preference, but I'd like to hear everyone's personal opinions and why they like it. Thanks.

I tried Apex 9.1 and SensatioN and I found issues with both of them that had me switching to another ROM the next day. I then found Darky ROM 10.2 Extreme Edition 10.2 (I prefer stable ROMs over Beta ones like Darky XXJVR R4) and it worked great, even though parts of it were a little slow. More issues cropped up, so I upgraded to 10.2.2 to see if the issues were resolved and they weren't.

Finally, Friday night I went with Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable. I like it a lot, it is extremely fast. Everything is customizable, which is good and bad. It seems that all of my preferences were the opposite of the default, so after flashing, restoring my apps, and changing all of the settings to what I like, it had taken more than 4 hours. Hopefully, I will get quicker at it if I need to reflash again.

CM7.1 is good enough that I think I will switch my wife's phone from Darky 10.2 here soon... if I can find the time.
 
i flashed this week CM7 on my HTC EVO and i love it..

i am thinking of flashing it on my Samsung Captivate and have it on GB rather then froyo.... so thats something i think i will do this weekend....

battery life on CM7 is good... for example right now i have 59% and have been unplugged since 7:30am
