Root CyanogenMod vs LeeDroid.

Hi Kids.

Okay so I've been running LeeDroid 2.2b for months now, and am very happy with it. However, with the much anticipated release of CM7, I'm tempted to have a change.

What style of Gallery does CM use? The standard list type, or the slow painful 3D type.

Can anyone recommend CM over LD. What are your personal thoughts, experiences with CM?

CM is without htc sense, LD with sense. Thats the easiest difference to mention.

If you worried about the gallery app - you should look at QuickPic - not as fancy as the 3D type, but better then list type - its super fast at loading the pics.
 
I don't use Sense anyway. Cant stand it. Launcher Pro Plus for me. As for the Gallery, I do have QuickPic installed as well as the 3D, and standard one. I tend to use the standard one more. I hate the 3D version.

So out of the two ROMs, which do you recommend as a new upgrade?

IMO, if you're going to use LP anyway then i probably wouldn't bother with leedroid. If CM7 is stable then i'd go for that out of the two.

Although, have you considered Gingervillain? Based on CM so will likely be updated soon i guess, sense-less, very fast and stable. Highly recommended by many on here and may be worth a look if you haven't already.

I noticed you're running GV 2.3. I googled it, and came up with the Beta Gingerbread version. Is this what you're using? What features are disabled at the moment?

All I can see over at XDA is v1.9.

I'm running GV1.8 which like all Gingervillians is Android (Gingerbread) 2.3
It's the one I always come back to when I find other slow and problematic.
It's smooth, fast and supports apps2sd+ and I can't really fault it - it makes my phone feel the way it should.

I haven't updated to 1.9 yet because there are some problems some people are having and it's not enough of an upgrade from 1.8 to risk something not working or introducing new issues to my phone.
 
I just installed CM7 final last night, immediately annoyed with one thing:

CM7 stable version was released today, so it doesn't hurt to give it a try as an alternative to GV.

I'm using v1.9 and that is the latest version. The only small issue I have is the notification bar non-smooth drop-down. The rest is fine for me.

Cyanogen has been a favourite of mine for a while now and running with the ManU 1.4 kernel battery life is greatly increased. Remember that you flash DT and Gapps separately with Cyanogen.
 
I wouldn't go with CM7 if you want to go to gingerbread, i would try ReDux 1.1.1 for the speed difference but they are to very different ROMs (LeeDroid & Cyanogen) so they cant really be compared :)

CM7 will be faster than Lee though, taking my comments in to account i have not yet tried the stable release of CM7, so that may be faster...
