I'm wanting to make the jump over to CM but having trouble deciphering which version of CM to get. I'm looking for the most stable version, I've been reading through these threads and it seems like some versions have known problems etc... what is the most stable version of CM6? As a follow up to that question, what kernel would you recommend to go with the most stable version of CM6?

Also I am currently using Amon-RA v2.1.1 (which I believe automatically backs up WIMAX keys) and have several backups so I should be good to go there. Anything else I need to aware of before flashing? Thanks!

The latest stable version is 6.1.2. Get it here:

Latest Version - CyanogenMod Wiki

As for the kernel, try the default kernel, as it may work fine for you. Otherwise, I hear the savage kernel and bcblend are both good. You'll have to ask the major AOSP fans for more suggestions. And you're good to go with RA 2.1.1.

thanks, I was over at the CM forum, and seemed like some peeps were having trouble with their wifi on 6.1.2 but I'll give it a try. One thing I noticed on watching youtube videos for CM was how freaking fast it loaded, I'll flash it right meow and report back.

also I'd assume that I dont want to do a TB batch restore after flashing because it will restore a bunch of uneeded sense stuff as well correct?
Maybe I'll just do an app brain sync instead, and then do individual TB restores

I don't recommend doing batch restores even across Sense ROMs (though they'll mostly work). If you do it from Sense to CM or vice versa, expect a lot of stuff to break in addition to having sense junk. You can use TB, though, to restore apps on an app by app basis. You might not want to restore app data, though.

Just flashed cm 6.1.2
can someone advise on how to get wimax up & running? also i can not find where to update my profile... or is that a sense thing thats not needed here.
I did flash thru clockworkmod 2.6.0.1 ... not sure if I shoulda used Armon
thanks!
i have to say wow with the new born speed! senceless makes sence now :)

Did you flash CM 6.1.2, or did you flash CM 6.1.2 wimax alpha? You get the wimax version here:

[ROM][WIP][ALPHA 2] - Wimax for CyanogenMod! Makes your everything go bigger! - xda-developers

If that's not what you flashed, that's what you need to flash. As for profile update, you can only do that in sense ROMs. You really only need to do it after updating radios, and a few other instances. You don't need to do it every time you switch ROMs. You can't on CM, anyway. If you need to, though, switch back to any old Sense ROM, update profile, then nandroid restore back to CM.

wow its like a new phone, I dont have the time to set it up right now, so I'm just gunna nandroid and switch back to mikfroyo, and save CM for a day when I can take some more time to set it up how I lke it, but I like what I see it's pretty stinkin cool

Basically, they finally got 4g to work on CM, but it's in alpha right now, and is still buggy. That being said, it's still 4g.

I know you already did it, but i would say try to get 6.1.1! The market is all messed up on the most recent version and I have found out through my experiences to be very buggy.

thansk guys, yea I'm having trouble getting my apps to work, I restored them 1 by 1 with TB and only restored the app not the data.... but about half of them dont work

i like the potenetial but I need like a full day to set it up, i really like the speed and the gallery, the calendar etc, but little things like the text UI is terrible, it doesnt automatically pull up your contacts when dialing etc.. I'm sure there are fixes I can flash, but like I said I need a full day to mess with it

seems like internet based problems, the market is lagging terribly, facebook wont login, tapatalk wont do anything...

text message pics say network failure, I'm wondering if I need to update my profile again, I think this nandroid was from before I did that

I just dont like cm6...If you do a mod, it should be better than what stock is. I don't think it is better than stock, and i think the biggest benefit is connecting the wiimote. Other than that it seems like apps are always crashing and its meh.....

I've been playing around for the past week or so with different CM builds, the original CM6 build I dl'ed over a week ago seemed a bit buggy, I then tried CM7 and I really liked it....a LOT but I was missing 4G so I tried dl'ing the CM WiMax Alpha 1 build over at XDA and the Market would not work at all for me. I just dl'ed another version of CM7 here> ([ROM] NON OFFICIAL CM7 not by CM. UPDATED 1/13 - xda-developers) specifically build 10 and I'm very impressed on how stable it is. 4G still doesn't work on this build but everything else seems to be ok. A few quirks here n there, like the charge light doesn't work properly but I REALLY like the stock music app and how the ROM functions (speed, animations, etc) overall so I think it's a keeper til they release an official build. I think a fully operational CM7 build is going to blow away everything else once released.

I did noticed they released an CM6 WiMax Alpha 2 build that I'm also tempted to try Tuesday morning when I go to work, I have 4G in that area but not where I live soooo I'm playing with CM7 for the rest of my extended w/e! :D

updated my profile and prl, I still cant download text pics, my market is up again but it's the regualr market, not the mik themed one for some reason
facebook still no worky, gunna wipe and install a fresh version of mik and see what happens

I posted this at xda but am hoping someone here can help?

WiFi cuts in and out.. I never had an issue at work or home(2 different routers) until I flashed cm 6.1.2
even with wifi/advanced set to never sleep, it still cuts out.
