d2 pad died

Hi All,

As a result of a death in the family, I opened a box with a new d2 pad internet tablet. It was working fine, had to charge it first, then connected to the internet, etc.

Once I connected to my AOL account it started to download emails. I have over 5000 emails in this account.

Then it went blank. Shows nothing, no indication of any sign of life.

Pushed reset button, nothing.

It is warn by the USB input where the power is supplied.

Any ideas ??

(sorry about the loss) i never heard of your tablet before, but can you charge it? also try and go into the bootloader, power+vol down(not all tablets will work this way).

Thanks for the suggestion but power+vol down does nothing. It is warm where the USB(power) port is but that is it.

I think it is dead.:(

Hi Capo, I work at a retailer who sells these tablets all the time. Before you scrap the tablet you should try taking out the battery and leaving it out for a good few minutes. Once you insert the battery back in it should force the tablet to boot up again, I think you might have overloaded the tablet and it put itself in sleep/hibernation mode to save power. Downloading 500 emails is a lot, anyways let me know if this works for you and if not I will see what i can do to help you further.

Wasn't sure if the battery on these things was removable or not.

True, I think most tablets come equipped with removal batteries. I know there are some devices out there that have non removable batteries but they are far and few. The ones we carried in my store had removable batteries so I'm kind of just assuming that these do too. It wouldn't be a very good business model to make some tablets with removal batteries and some tablets with non removal batteries, especially of the same series or brand.

You never know. ;)

We use inexpensive Android tablets for our drivers to take out for signature capture when making deliveries (I am IT manager for a logistics company) and we have been seeing more and more with sealed cases.

That is just dumb, they will probably put it under the guise of protecting your tablet or smart phone device but what they're probably doing is making it so you have less ways to try and fix it yourself so they can charge you more :P
