Root DaedalusMOD-0.1, based on Cyanogen Mod 6, is here

I'm going to give everyone two pieces of advice regarding this.

1. DO NOT expect it to be a daily driver install. Many things are not working, and again, this IS NOT suitable for normal use. Try this ONLY if you are a tech junkie and just want to play with it, knowing full well that you WILL have to flash back to something else to use your phone normally.

2. Isaac does not use the Ascend as his primary phone anymore (no service), and everyone should understand realistically that he juggles this as a secondary project these days, due to his personal life.

I say this not to be ugly to anyone, but remember that he, as well as anyone else who works on these things, is doing it of their own accord, and are not obligated to do any of it at any time. If a project stops, it stops. Having watched things like this over the years, many times these guys (and girls) get sick of so many questions and so little thanks, not to mention a constant barrage of "when is it coming out?", so please be sensitive to their feelings and understand that like any of us, they can lose interest or be forced to stop because of other circumstances at any point.

Thank you. This is too true. All of us are lucky to even have someone willing to do this for us. Icarus was free for us to use! It took time and dedication for it to be completed. I know how easy it is for people to forget to just simply say thank you. Thinking of others first, Thats a rare diamond in the rough.

I, For one, Am truly Thankful to all the people who have given me the means to improve my phone. :3

I think I have already said most, if not all, of this. Thanks though for making it stand out. Much appreciated. :)

No worries. I've staffed forums and torrent sites for over 5 years, and I know firsthand how little someone's hard work is appreciated at times, so I wanted to re-emphasize it. Sadly, these days not very many people are willing to recognize what others do for them, and only care about what benefit they get from the hard work of others.

Hey guys,

I don't think BlastGT1 could of said it any better. I'd like to expand on this though. I started playing with the Ascend back in December on XDA. When the site myAscend.org was created, I thought it was a good place to put up my ROMs and conduct business there. For the most part, I haven't visited this site, Howards, XDA or any other Android site. Unfortunately, the community at myascend (save for a few really cool people) have really put me off. When it starts feeling like a job/chore and not a fun project anymore, it's time to go. So, as far as I am concerned, I will do nothing to help that site anymore.

However, I like developing. While I'm not a pro (I only know how to program in python), it's been a fun challenge getting Froyo and Gingerbread on the Ascend with no help from Huawei (or the myascend community). I'm thinking of branching out and my continue my work here or at XDA where the community and site are better moderated and controlled. Furthermore, I might stumble upon someone who knows what they're doing a lot more than me!

For those curious about Gingerbread, it's possible, but the kernel I'm using is getting too old. You can see screenshots here (no, they're not photoshopped. I don't have PS, nor do I know how to use it): CyanogenMod7 - Huawei Ascend - a set on Flickr

Take care.

Looks good over on Flickr. Thanks for everything you have done. I have learned ALOT thanks to you, your posts here and other sites, and from the impact you've had on alot of other people and their phones.

Thank you.

isaac your determination is amazing. I wish we had a thousand more like you. We appreciate your work and I want to tell you to not worry about us being impatient for your works to be completed. We understand that developing is not the only things you do and that you can be busy sometimes, so take your time, don't worry about it. I really am glad you are considering on making the Android Forums your home. The Huawei Ascend forum has been needing a developer like you, and I know we have found a great one. I agree with you about the MyAscend forums. Fights and arguments easily break out there, and no one does anything about it. I hope you enjoy your visit to our Ascend forum, and here's hoping that your stay will not be temporary. Cheers to isaac.

If you are talking about the stock home, it is called canvas. You should be able to find and freeze it with tb. I think Browser is by Google, probably shouldn't mess with that anyway.

running icarus 1.1...

froze browser (said [bookmarks]....wser) no problem.

checking for canvas.....

nope, [desktop] home 2.1-update1 is what i found. froze it and np for ten minutes so far.

Hmm, mine says [Desktop] Canvas 2.1 update 1. I'm not running icarus, though. Maybe it's different because icarus has lp as default. I never tried freezing browser. I guess I always thought it was google, so I didnt mess with it. Good to know I can freeze it if I want to. Thanks.

i uninstalled browser on stock as soon as i got skyfire and canvas as soon as i got golauncher (using crazy home now)

freezing is safer though.

accidentally froze sms, mms, apn yesterday and actually was able to thaw between fc errors. badass

Tibu rocks. I could never use skyfire as my default browser. It has too much facebook and crap on there. Have you tried xScope 6? It's awesome. I've never heard of crazy home I'll have to check it out.

Nope, i'll check it.

I got crazy home because it lets me have my own home screens and themes seperate from the iphone theme I.have set up so my fiance can use my phone easier.

Up to three home screens with five screens each. Each can have its own theme and icon pack.
It's a little cpmplicated.and a little limited because of this but it makes up for it in other ways.
