Help Dailer draining battery?

While my phone is on, i noticed my battery is draining within only a day with everything turned off eg. 3G, WiFi, GPS, etc. when i went on 'battery usage' it showed 'dailer' used 96% of my battery. is this normal? what is dailer? and why is it draining my battery?
 
So far my battery has been turned on (apart from the nighttime) for 2 days 36 mins. Thats just on a 3 hour charge as the manual tells you too. I noticed when i charged for all night, the battery only lasted a day.
That is with moderate usage for both.

Restarting the phone after making a call does not make any sense.. I make around 6 to 7 calls a day, and i should restart my phone every time for better battery life? :confused: :rolleyes:

It's just the way it's reported, the dialer isn't taking up massive amounts of battery

I was slightly puzzled at first. When I received the 2.3.3 update on my Desire HD, I started noticing the dialer taking up a high percentage of my battery, but battery life had actually increased. Given I'm noticing similar bugs with 2.3.3 on the Wildfire S as I had with my Desire HD, I'm thinking the dialer "issue" will be the same too.

Hi First Post here, actually fixed Htc Skins not D'loading/Installing by lurkin about 2 days ago..

Here this time because I too have the Dialler bug (I'm presuming it's a bug..) which after six hours is showing that it's gobbled up 60% of the used power..

BackDaws have you spoken to them to confirm that they're aware of this problem or are you assuming it? :) I'll drop them a mail as well if that'll help.

from the look of things HTC are just fobbing us off with a have you tried this response, the problem is the software nothing to do with user error, and ive factory reset my phone about 5 times since getting it and the problem is still there before adding anything to the phone.

EDIT: ive email HTC Support regarding the issue, everyone with issue should send them an email @ http://www.htc.com/uk/cs_mail.aspx

Your Dialler is showing high consumption in the battery usage..

I have mailed them and have an open support ticket with them. I believe lots of people are contacting them to try and exert a bit of pressure onto them to get this issue fixed.

Their department today mailed me and admitted it was a bug and that I should watch for a fix being released. They didn't say how soon so I replied saying I wasn't happy with the outcome and would not close the ticket until they have this fixed or at least have a time when it will be fixed, announced.

They replied very quickly (Within 10 minutes..) saying they are referring me to the escalations department. - They seemed genuinely sorry for my predicament and assured me that they are awaiting further technical advice from another department.

Theyr'e hopefully dragging some software writer out of bed and sticking lighted bamboo shoots up his nails to have him come up with an answer... :)

Write them a mail, include the stats of your battery and what/where it's usage is, at least they've finally admitted it's a bug.

Still no update or fix, this is a joke, if this is how HTC treat its customers then i may have to jump ship and go with Samsung.

isnt the latest gingerbread now 2.3.5 now ? ffs HTC sort it out we need the battery saving goodness of 2.3.5.
 
How long are you getting out of the battery?

Refer to my post above, I don't think the dialer has that big an impact on the battery, it's just being reported incorrectly.
 
Yes even i checked it out for a week now. The dialer taking high amount of battery as shown in the "battery usage" is just a bug i think, because it wont actually consume that amount of battery.
I have made 2 calls and received 4 calls yesterday, also few texts, played Angry Birds for about 10 minutes or so and played Drop for a few minutes, and i'm on 80% of battery after 30 hours. This is the first time my battery has given such a performance. I'm puzzled a bit myself :D
So i guess the dialer won't drain so much out of your battery as it is reported.
 
Am I missing something, I think this is just down to basic maths. Just because the dialer says 96% doesn't mean it's draining the battery. Isn't this showing what has been responsible for the current drain so far.

Not sure how battery charge is measured (i.e. what units). But if you only drop a few units but this is down to making calls then it will show high, this doesn't mean that it's draining the battery at a high rate.

The battery usage shows as dialer has been using about 98% of battery even though i havent made any calls and also i have browsed the net for more than an hour, played few games. So it is definitely a bug.
 
Dialer also pertains to other things like the proximity sensor and the light sensor. I also think the LED at the top of the internal speaker is classed as the dialer.
