I have a problem with SD card. It's reporting damaged SD card and wants me to format it. I already read all about that problem and tryed to fix it with 'chkdsk' but still nothing, even if I format it. Sometimes after few restarts it loads SD card and it's all there, but soon after that apps that are on my SD are crashing when I enter them and there is an android logo on them when I go to Settings-Applications. When I enter in File Manager and press to see my files on SD there are completely unknown files all named similar like this '!$.-#a'... After some time it goes back to normal and I can open my apps on SD and see my files as they are but soon after that it all goes back to old problem.

I tried to put it in another android phone and it worked perfectly without any problems with loading it and using my files. Then I put it back in my phone and again it's reporing damaged.

I don't know what's the problem. I read that formatting SD card on another phone and putting it back in my will help but I wanted to see if anyone has the same problem.

Cheers!

Is it a legitimate card or a counterfeit? Use an app called SD Insight to find out. If it's legit, then you have a failing or failed SD card. They DO go bad, which is why I strongly encourage regular backups of the SD card. If a recovery program like Recuva can't get the files off of it intact, they are likely gone forever... and a format will only worsen the problem. Memory cards have a lifespan measured in read/write cycles: the more you write to it, the faster it will die. A format essentially overwrites the whole card, which will essentially kill any life left in it. You need a new card from a reputable source.

What is the brand name of the sd card?
Where did you buy it or is it the original that came with the phone?
How old is the card?
What phone do you have? Carrier? Android version?

Use an app called SD Insight to check the authenticity of the card.

EDIT: ninja'd by the Chief! lol

I bought SD card from eBay... I know... Later on I found about fake SD cards but it was too late but I tested it with a program and it was all ok. I installed app and it says that SD card is invalid. What can I do now? And I already backed up my files.

Card is 6-7 months old. I have THL T6S with 4.4.2 android version.

If you care about any of the data thats on it.. (photos documents etc) then I'd throw it away, replace it with a genuine card, and move on.

Its one on lifes little lessons.

But it works normally on other phone?

Until it breaks, or stops, corrupts or loses some data

As I said...

If you care about any of the data thats on it.. (photos documents etc) then I'd throw it away, replace it with a genuine card, and move on. SD cards are so cheap in comparison, That I don't think its worth that risk at all.

If you don't care, and would rather use a skanky card and take the risk, thats your call... but at that point its all on you.

Thank you all for your responses.

Hi all. This was my topic and again I have kinda same problem. http://androidforums.com/threads/damaged-sd-card.1031372/

One day my phone just blocked. I restarted it and it showed me damaged SD card notification. I took SD and put it in my PC and it works just fine showing me all my files that I have on her. I did cleanup, defrag and chkdsk then put in back in to the phone. There was no notification about damage. I entered settings and opened storage where it displayed me my SD card and all that (free space, applications...) I tried to open apps on my SD but nope. It has that green android icon. Can't see my pics or my songs. Then I tried to open display list of apps on SD and my phone just blocked. Again doing restart it displays my SD with all data about how much free space etc. And that's just it. Any solutions?

It is original Platinet 16gb SD card.

Hi all. This was my topic and again I have kinda same problem.

If you sign in you will be able to reply to the topic rather than post another thread.

If the card reads/writes correctly in other devices, and the problem only occurs when it's used in your phone, then that points to an issue with the phone itself.

Should factory reset fix the problem?
Have you tried using another SD card? If any SD card you try doesn't work it's most likely a hardware problem. And like others have stated, it is probably a counterfeit.

Also: try putting the SD card on another device and see if the same problem occurs.

Edit: to answer your question I would suggest doing what I said before a factory reset.
