Darchdroid 2.8 final release

Mine did this once, then I checked my FB and it did it again. Not sure if its related, but I havent touched my FB app in a few hours, and no reboots yet.

My FB is rolled back from the newest update, I think something is wrong with it anyway, the graphics/layout isnt normal.
 
I personally found that Darch 2.8 (stock without jit) ran just as fast and stable as Darch 2.7 (stock with jit). I did a full fresh install with all wipes though...
 
Super fast ROM, like it even more than I was liking ZenEXP (probably because of the status/notification bar style and icons..), but having two problems that are bothering me that I cannot find fixes for on XDA..

1) App downloads on the Market seem to not work after a while. I can grab a few apps, but then after a while, downloads hang while starting and never complete. Tried cancelling them, turning WiFi/3G/GPS on and off and on and off, restarting the downloads, wiped everything and reflashed, etc, still does it. I know I can just find and install apks through ASTRO, but that's a bit of a pain to do for every app

2) LED notifications don't really seem to work at all. Handcent, missed calls, everything besides charging basically.

Anyone have any ideas?

I haven't had any problems with the Market, although I have only downloaded six apps so far. And my LED stays lit green while blinking red when I miss a call or get a SMS message.

My problem is that I can not receive MMS messages; and I have also noticed that my phone gets incredibly slow after using Google Navigation. It's so bad that I have to restart the phone. Very annoying. :mad:
 
Im so stupid. I rooted and flashed Fresh 2.3.3. Now, I forgot how to flash this on my phone... someone help me out? lol
Edit: I remembered how to do it. But, now its on a boot loop. I wiped to factory reset and did everything they told me to.

2 questions. Did you update the newer edition of FB and/or roll it back from that?

Also, did you flash the Collin Battery weak over it?

Trying to narrow it down since most people at the IRC arent having this problem and we are. The ones that didnt so far were the ones who didnt flash the battery tweak.
 
all is well except i cant receive text messages.i can send but not receive.i wiped everything.fresh 2.3.3 texting worked fine,pleaSE HELP!!!:confused:

every 2.2 rom ive tried has this problem for me,and every 2.1 rom works!!is there some setting in froyo i need to change?

I did update FB, no roll back, and no battery tweak. it seemed fine, and the FB could be suspect, as it was after i updated, but i don't use the app much and so i wouldn't have thought to associate the 2. after nandroid i'm back to no reboots. I may have some time to kill today and may just do a clean flash on 2.8. the reboots were the main reason i got off of a fresh rom and onto darch. of course on fresh my phone seemed hot, and even on 2.8 it didn't seem hot.
 
sorry to pester but has anyone figured out why froyo roms on sprint hero cant receive text messages?i have tried every release.plus all the cm6 vanillas and blues.have wiped everyone with charmin extra stong and no luck.flash back to hero 2.3.3,works fine.Ive read through many forums and other people are having the same issue

For starters, this isnt the correct place to ask that question, as this is to discuss DD 2.8 which is not Froyo.

Go to the XDA site and ask the question in the proper area there, that will most likely get you the best answer.

For right now consider Froyo a work in progress. It is not complete and wont be until the Devs release as fully functional. If you want a ROM that is stable and works got for DD2.7.

Thanks for the info. I rewiped everything (I think I forgot Dalvik first time around) then reflashed DD 2.7 and the battery tweak. It has been running great all day. 12 hours and still 40% battery left.

FB is still looking weird, the title bar on the actual app is missing the logo and doesnt look normal. Also the stock keyboard was still looking weird like it was in 2.8, so I just installed the HTC IME mod from XDA.
 
sorry im a newbie !but i still am not getting text messages on this release and am looking 4 help.wiped everything,installed new sd with no data stored and wiped phone!!!no luck.this rom greatly resembles a 2.2. rom and i dont get texts on a 2.2 rom also.is there a connection with the 2 that may cause this problem.fresh 2.3.3 i do get texts.very puzzled????mahalo
 
I'm loving Darchdroid, but am having a few issues...

1) Navigation will run for about 30 minutes, then my phone reboots.
2) Waze will not hold a signal...keeps showing me off streets or no good location
3) 1/2 of the time I get no audio/vibrate notification of texts in Handcent.
4) Phone occasionally reboots out of the blue

Any suggestions?
 
OK so I am positive I have solved the issues with this ROM. After asking everyone I could about issues and non issues and different specifics of what was different between each person. The only 3 conclusions that I came down to were:

1. bad download file
2. Recovery was outdated and not working properly
3. Flashing collin_ph battery tweak was causing issues

Somehow, there was random rebooting, GPS not lasting, Wifi tether not working, and a host of other issues.

The 3rd one was a coin toss with people I talked to. Some used it and had no issues and some had the same issues as me. So I focused on the other 2. I re downloaded the ROM to make sure I didnt have a bad file. I then installed a new recovery, I went with the one on the DD2.8 thread on XDA, since that was what Darch used to test it initially.

Running for almost 24 hours now with zero issues to report. If you are still having problems with 2.8 please do the following

1. Redownload the DD 2.8 zip
2. Download and flash over the Darch RA recovery
3. Wipe data, cache, and Dalvik
4. Flash 2.8

Notice I have not tested the battery tweak out yet, since after talking to collin, I think mine wasnt working anyway since 2.1 ROMs need a special file to work and a separate step that I never did. Also, I did not use Titanium backup to backup any data. Apps should be ok, but do not bring over any trace of older rom data. Google (or whoever) automagically restored my apps after a fresh install, didnt even know that was an option.

So hopefully this helps anyone who has been struggling to get this ROM right.

Edit: Well, hit the 24 hour mark and got a reboot. Not sure what else to do at this point, attempted to get the file to send to Darch and rebooted again.
 
Cool, just wiped 2.3.3 and flashed this ROM and digging it. Hardly miss Sense at all after downloading Beautiful Widgets Home Weather.
Now I'm wondering if I should just go for cyanogenmod since Darch says its basically as functional as this ROM.

easy way to update your prl is just flash another rom such as fresh and update your prl within your settings with that rom..then wipe and flash darch's rom again. the prl settings will be saved from whichever rom you came from

You can do the same method but using nandroids as well.

1. Make a nandroid of your current setup.
2. Wipe, flash Fresh 2.3.3
3. Skip all account setups etc, update Profile first, then PRL
4. Wipe again
5. Flash nandroid of your good setup.

That way you go back to where your phone was, and not have to re do everything.

making a nandroid of your current set up on darchdroid would make you lose root access..best to update prl on another rom first then flash darchdroid's rom from scratch

From DD 2.8, I did this. Just last night, I just checked and I still have root. (Through Terminal, as well as Wifi tether still works)

The only time I lost root on 2.8 was when flashing over 2.7 without wipe.
