DarkKnight V2.3 Kernal (siyah)

I feel these deserve their own thread. Can be added to Siyah thread later if required.

"So Me and Gokahamoral (Siyah Kernel Dev) Decided to build a entirely new platform for Battery Saving's
This is a Kernel with Crazy Feature! And with Out of the ordinary performance.

This is not the regular Siyah Kernel but different and trust me really different, its build for more stability and more battery life instead of a all round performer like siyah.
Choice of kernel is your personal preference.

FEATURES

Changed auto-brightness levels.
fixed auto-rooting problem
reverted back to old workqueue implementation
reverted memory allocator to SLAB
enabled cleancache
default i/o scheduler: sop
slub as in stock kernel.
some limitations in undervolting (max 100mA per each step)
some limitations in charging current (max 800mA) to prevent overheating
lulzactive default and tweaked a little more (55 up-threshold which makes it more snappier, previous was 60) and disabled lulzactive debugging.
cleancache enabled. this should improve performance.
ondemand and conservative are also better than previous release
Can be flashed on Samsung ROMs and AOSP Based ROMS. Currently all Samsung 2.3.4 & 2.3.5 based ROMS, CM7 and MIUI ROMS are supported.
Samsung sources Update3
Auto-Rooting
Complete DK Engine
Boot animation support
Custom boot logo and startup sound (thanks to hellcat)
Supports SetCPU (OC upto 1600MHz, UC downto 100MHz)
Supports undervolting (UV between 800 mV and 1500 mV)
Supports voltage control via SetCPU (thanks to netarchy, ninpo, hacre)
Stock voltages as default
smartassV2 governor
Tweaked interactive governor
Tweaked on-demand governor
Compiler optimizations (DK style)
user customizable charging speed (use at your own risk). you have to echo AC, MISC and USB charge currents to a misc device.
Touchscreen fix (thanks to vitalij)
Increased touchscreen sensitivity
Increased battery polling interval
GPU clock and voltage control interface (thanks to netarchy).
I/O Tweaks
automatic battery calibration. (removed. thanks to Entropy512. we do not need battery calibration for SGS2)
Available I/O schedulers: noop, deadline, CFQ, V(R), SIO (default)
Available CPU governors: ondemand (default), interactive, smartassV2(recommended), conservative, userspace, performance, powersave
/system/etc/init.d startup scripts support
Automatic backup of efs partition. You will have the files in your sdcard as well as /data/.siyah directory. copy them to a safe location in case you may need them later.
Updated jhash to version 3
Increased charging speed.
BLN (thanks to creams), liblights is autoinstalled if the existing one doesn't support BLN
CIFS, SLQB, NTFS
Time to break some records... both performance-wise and battery-wise...
Overclocking part is optimized and bus frequency selection is modified.
User customization frequency levels. you still have 8 steps, but you will be able to customize them. wanna change 100 to 150 as 100MHz is not stable on your device? wanna change 1400 to 1304 and 1600 to 1504? or increase 1600 to 1696?
User customization bus frequency selection. no more overheating. if you are a battery freak, just set it to minimum and your device will last more than ever."

[KERNEL] DarkKnight V2.3 | CheckROM

DK lagged and was slow for me so I have put siyah on. If that's what it takes to get a slightly better battery life I'll take performance any day of the week.

Antutu 6600 or there about on all recent siyah. dk 2.3 lagged and antutu 4200! Gonna stick with siyah

I haven't really liked any of the DK kernels as much as the regular Siyah. This was the same.

i have just installed this about an hour ago, so can't really comment on performance as yet, but boot time was a lot quicker. :)

i read elsewhere that it gives a faster charge time, but with a side effect of the phone heating up quite a bit more than normal.

anyone experienced this yet?

I'm giving DK v2.4.3 a pop now, and I do not find it nearly as smooth as Siyah on its default lulzactive governor.

Same goes for all the others really. Pretty laggy for me in Go Launcher.
I even found scrolling through menu items in CWM laggy!

Back to Siyah for me.

same here + stops/starts every 2nd sec when listening to music on poweramp with screen off + problems with ringing tone similiar...
all works fine with screen on...
anyway, back to siyah 2.4.2

New DarkKnight on the way.

DarkKnight v2.5.2p

Posted on December 15, 2011

Changelog:

has all the features of Siyah-v2.5.2b

If a feature cause instability it is disabled

or limited. Battery optimizations are

included as long as they do not decrease

the performance or cause instability.

default cpu governor is conservative

default i/o scheduler is deadline

This one is for GadgetCheck. he will release it is ready

I'll be giving this one a swerve butty.
My phone just can't get along with these DK kernels at all.
I'll stick with Siyah proper.

My plan of action was to give it a try and then remove it shortly after because of the lag. Never know this could be the DarkKnight which works for me.

Dark Knight 2.5.2p is up! :D

has all the features of Siyah-v2.5.2b with the following exceptions:
pm_max to pm_fast
wifi range should be increased.
If a feature cause instability it is disabled or limited. Battery optimizations are included as long as they do not decrease the performance or cause instability.
default cpu governor is conservative
default i/o scheduler is deadline
sleep frequency is 800MHz
stock lowest brightness value

[KERNEL] DarkKnight V2.5.2p (DEC 16) | CheckROM

I gave in and put on DK v2.5.2p
I have to say it seems very good. Its the first DK kernel that I can get along with.
Homescreens and app drawer seem Siyah-like smooth, and for the first time for me, there is no lag in the CWM Recovery menus, whereby the bar would previously be playing catch-up with my key presses.
Unless yet another version of this or Siyah emerges, I'll keep this one on for today to asses how battery drain copes overnight....
