Root das BAMF 1.7 - searching for signal/overheating

I've been running 1.7 for about a week now with no issues until yesterday. Both yesterday and today I was in areas with low signal. My phone got and stayed hot enough to where I had to turn it off. I'm assuming it was from searching for signal. I wasn't completely out of service, but just low signal. Once I get back into a service area, dialer is mis-aligned. Yesterday, reboots wouldn't get it back to normal, so I reflashed my backup. Today, a reboot fixed it. I'm not in a 4G area, so I don't think that's the issue.

In addition to the phone being hot, obviously, my battery drains ridiculously fast and it becomes sluggish. Like today, I was at a birthday party with my kids and couldn't really take any pictures.
