I just ordered the same although I had an Inspire for a few days that had a transfer data option in the applications. I'm guessing the Vivid should have this option, too.
I'm not sure of an easy way to get all your apps loaded but you should be able to see them all in the Market/Google Play list under My Apps to get an easy start.
Per the help guide from ATT:
Transferring contacts from your old phone
Easily transfer contacts from your old phone to your new HTC phone through Bluetooth. Depending on your old phone’s model, you may also transfer other types of data such as calendar events and text messages to your phone.
1. From the Home screen, tap > Transfer Data.
2. Tap Next to begin.
3. To check whether your old phone is supported, select a manufacturer name and phone model.
4. If supported, turn your old phone’s Bluetooth on and set it to discoverable mode, then tap Next to continue.
Your new HTC phone automatically turns Bluetooth on and searches for Bluetooth devices.
5. From the device list, select your old phone and then tap Next.
Your new HTC phone then tries to pair with your old phone. You’ll then see a security passkey on the Transfer Data screen.
6. On your old phone, enter this passkey or simply confirm it.
7. Select the Contacts check box (and other supported types of data you want to import), and then tap Next.
8. When your new HTC phone finishes importing data, tap Done.

if you're using android of any kind...especially an inspire, your contacts should probably be saved in your google account. as for the apps, they are in the market...i've personally never cared about saved app data, but if you really want to keep it, it ought to be saving on your sd. this really should be relatively painless. I flash roms, and updates all the time...and on my old inspire, it was weekly...almost a non-issue
