Help Data Call Failure: Error Code 67

Earlier today, I was having trouble with Error Code 67 and ended up calling Sprint for assistance. I had been trying to use PDANet and USB tethering.

The first CS rep led me thru steps to Update PRL but it didn't stop the message popping up. The second CS rep did the same things then had me go thru the ##3282# route. When that didn't help, she handed me off to Advanced Technical Support. The ATS tech must have referred to the logs and asked what I was trying to do. I explained that I would get the error message whenever I connected the USB cable prior to performing HTC Sync. He informed me that I needed to insure the that when connecting the cable the USB tethering option was not selected. He said that the USB tethering is only available for those who subscribed and paid for the $29.99 service. I said OK and hung up.

Well, guess what...I am now using PDANet and connected as I type this post. Of course, it required repeating the same steps described by many others that this configuration does indeed work!

Hope this lasts...I have a trip coming up next week.

That worked for me AND Sprint credited me $70 on my next bill. If you are having this problem in San Francisco, do not talk to the 1st tier tech support. They wont help and will keep insisting that there is no 4G coverage here. There is, it's just not official. Ask to speak to advanced tech support and don't mention your location.

last night after work I started getting this Error Code 67 nonstop, to the point where my phone was unusable (i have a HTC Hero btw). I usually just go into my settings and turn the mobile network off, wait, then turn it back on when I get issues like this. However this time the mobile network checkbox was grayed out with the status os "connecting...." showing up. I tried a restart, didn't work.....so I just shut the phone off and went to bed. Woke up this morning and I was getting the exact same error.

So I came into work and looked up this message thread, by the time I was done reading all your messages, I looked at my phone to try some of these fixes......and the error was magically gone and my phone was working fine again. So my guess is: this was some random issue on Sprints end.

I have the HTC Evo 4g and am on a company plan. I have been trying to tether via PDA Net but kept getting the error 67 problem. As mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread, if you are using PDA Net, make sure you are using disk drive and not USB tethering as your USB connection type. I did this and PDA net works fine and I can now use my phone's wifi from my laptop. No need to pay $30/month for the mobile hotspot service. (unless you want to turn your phone into a hub)

stupid error on my part but regardless a very simple fix for what appears to be a complex problem

The way i fixed this problem on my HTC Evo was...
Turning on my own thether ( Im rooted with Unrevoked) I got into the website ( any webpage, I went to google ) I rebooted my phone .....Turn phone off and press power and volume down.. and reboot.....problem gone!!

Had the error 67 msg after I flashed my phone. Not sure why, but his fix worked for me and might work for you too if your using pdanet.
1)Update profile
2)Restart phone
3)reinstall pda.net on phone
4)reinstall pda.net on laptop/desktop

hope it helps

Here's how i fixed mine it been running 2 days striaght with out the error 67. simply go to ##3282#
Click Edit
Enter MSL
Click Data Profile
Switch Active profile To 0 and save it

I had not been trying to tether, yet I started getting this error a week ago, shortly followed by the mandatory voice mail update. I couldn't get rid of either of these annoyances until I went into the settings and turned off roaming. I'm not sure why I would be roaming, perhaps a Sprint tower issue? Anyway, this worked and now the error is gone.

My phone works fine, and I was able to update the (stupid, no need since I use gvoice) voice mail option too.

Thanks, this worked great. I used info from this page How to Get Sprint HTC Hero MSL | Market 4 Android to get my MSL without having to call Sprint.

#1 worked thanks! :)

yes this means that either the username or password on the phone is incorrect or there is a provisioning error on sprints side.

fixes

1. preform a reset on the device by going to menu<<settings<<about phone<<system updates<<update profile

2. if that doesn't work the call sprint *2 from another sprint phone or 888-211-4727 and ask for advanced technical support. once you speaking with ATS,, tell them the error code,, they will more than likely have you reset the device again after changing some network elements

but in most cases the reset will fix the issue... now if you were to get a survey based on this call today for customer satisfaction would you be able to say I resolved your issue..... crap gotta remember im not at work...

Thanks so much for the instructions! Was getting the error code without being tethered or having connected to tether for DAYS. It happened at Disneyland (no joke). I assume it's the tower explanation since...well no tethering. I tried to update PRL and profile, but I got Service Error 1012.

Called Customer Care to get my own keyboard password (yours won't be 253629, each phone has its own number), was transferred and got it within 10 minutes.

Went into Dial Pad, entered ##3282#.
Asked for password (this is where the 253629 6-digit number goes)
Went into Edit Mode, then third option down to make sure my MSID number was correct.
Then went to Data Profile, hit Menu, Restore (hit OK when option came up).
Hit "Commit Modifications," then let phone reboot.

So far no problems. Have used Internet, Texting, and Phone with no issues.
First time in a LONG TIME I'm very pleased with Sprint customer service.

Hi,

I get the same error code, but my phone was fully flashed to use with MetroPcs.. What would happen if I did what you said about resetting the phone?

stop lieing out of ur teeth! reseting doesnt do shit! i have tried 5 different times after needing help with other issues! people who think u know what ur talking bout is doing nothing but reading lies and wasting others time!!!!

get lost!

Phone shows: "Data Call Failure Error Code 67. Registration failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect."
When you plugin your phone, if your phone prompts me to 'Choose Connection Type', make sure you select "Charge Only" or "USB Drive". Do NOT select 'Internet Sharing'.

really?!?!!? where do u see the help there! dumbass
