Help Data connection issue

I have the european Hero and was wondering if any one had the same issue and had a fix.
My mobile data connection turns off after a few minutes when the screen lock comes on. I have checked both "always on mobile data" and "mobile network" on. The data connection will stay on with the screen lock only if I have an IM logged on. I have changed my sim card and have done a factory reset....Any suggestions??
 
I had the same problem here in Luxembourg. My Provider Luxgsm wasn't able to handle correctly the data connection of Android phones but since a few weeks the problem was solved by Luxgsm and the connection is working as it should.

Im in Bermuda....And my service provider is currently upgrading to a 3G+ network so I thought that may be the issue....I use EDGE data at the moment...I will check with my provider to see if its an issue with them
