Help Data Encryption on HTC EVO 4G

Does anyone know if the HTC Evo 4G offers data encryption when surfing the web and sending emails? I just got this phone today after switching from a Blackberry. I have been doing some reading and have found conflicting information.

If anyone has any information they could share I would be so appreciative!

Thank you,
Jennifer

Data encryption is a joke. The EVO does not do data encryption. If people can hack into government computers then individuals can do mean things with data signals. It just takes the will of a person. I do online banking from my EVO and the security resides with my bank on their website. Of which the bank does an excellent job since most of their employees work for the NSA. People aren't concerned with trying to steal information from Android devices but malware has made it into the market. Like I said its about willingness.

Thank you for your opinion. Is there any way to at least encrypt emails? It seems like there should be an application for this. However, if there isn't I am returning the phone to the store. I don't want a phone that doesn't offer this; it seems pretty basic. For a phone that I otherwise like; it seems sad that this wasn't standard.

No, your email security resides with the entity you use for your email. From my understanding blackberry uses encrypted servers. The phones don't encrypt anything. Someone could steal information from any device if they wanted the information badly enough. Just because you use blackberry, HTC, or Apple doesn't provide you with any more protection than the next. Even the military is starting to move toward devices running android.

Last, there are phones that exist for VIPs that could never be cracked. Unless you are the president I think you are wasting too many brain cells on this issue. Nobody is going to waste time sifting through the vast amount of cell phone data because of the equipment required to achieve such a feet. You do realize someone can steal your email data before it goes to the blackberry server right?

I stand corrected, blackberry devices utilize a key to encrypt message data before going to their server. But like I said, where there is a will there is a way.
