Root Data Governor Remover - Does it work?

Fixing stuff is not easy
I split this thread from http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/562567-mod-data-governor-remover.html

I've done this so that discussion on if it works or does not, personal opinions, and evidence to either side can be discussed here and not pull the original thread off topic, which should remain as a support thread for the modification.

Please do not report this thread so that it can be merged into the thread that I split it from, this was done intentionally. Thank you for your understanding.

Also, the staff of Android Forums does not have any official opinion either way on this issue. I am simply trying to make it so the topic can be discussed in an open manner without detracting from the modification and the work of it's developer.
 
Dont mean to rain on any1's parade but according to this post from the xda forum the uncapping method is fake but perhaps this is only for certain phones either way i did not notice any constant DL speed while downloading a file it still flutter up and down like it normally does, if u feel the need to feel special and extra crispy then by all means go ahead no one is going to tell you otherwise. just wanted to share a lil truth with the peeps.

I never had it to work for me.

I thought it was placebo from the start, i just didn't want to say anything.

Next time it should be a blind test. I bet peoples results would be a lot different. ;)
 
well i respect p-bot contribution i think we need more people on the forum like him and many others on the site but unfortunately i dont think this mod works. now the reason i believe theres no way for us to manipulate our data speeds are because its all being controlled server side meaning they have total control of our speeds.Ive also notice another mod that was posted and that was the beats audio mod another placebo and people might get mad and take a poke at me but i have a pair of beats by dr dre detox edition that i paid $450 at best buy and when i flashed that mod i swear to you no difference at all. i even plugged in my phone out to my pc's in and recorded a audio sample on my pro-tool 9 hd and the sound spectrum were the same.... anyways its good that we try stuff out on the forum i believe its essential to see what works or not but i believe after a time period we should have random test results to see if these mods really work.... just my 2centz.

I agree totally.

P bot should keep doing what he's doing. All mods aren't gonna work but at least someone is trying.

And most people know my thoughts on the "beats" thing.

Waste of money, time and name. Monster tainted themselves by putting that product out. Their awful pain and simple. No headphones should have subwoofer bass in them. Sub bass belongs in clubs and in trunks. Any engineer well tell you that. Smh.

p-bot thanks you for a great mod! IMO. Well, let me see how I want to say this, okay this mod definitely helps and does something that's beneficial to "me"! So to each his own!.... This mod has been out for a minute now, so I'm sure folks know whether they want it or not! Some may say it helps them.... And for those that it didn't help, I think it's just rude an self centered to come in the thread and start talking about "headphones" and nonsense! Really though!.... Everyone has an opinion, but DAM to just come in and go off topic is just "rude" I always hear on different threads we should stay on topic! I'm not here to hear about headphones!!! Please start a new thread for the that! Thanks and have a great day! :-)

Since you claim that you have the mod working, would you like to take part in a test? It doesn't work for me so i can't gather the info i need.
If like to make my own test since i know what to look at now.
But if you would like to take part in a test to disprove that the mod doesn't work let me know, i could use the info to discern yay or nay. Thanks

lol i step out for a few hours and i see total chaos ..... epic anyways there was nothing rude posted credit was given for the contribution. i was not trying to call out on any1's effort. anyways let the testing begin.

No what you did was GREAT to say the least. No disrespect to P-bot but it's better to know that a MOD has been proven to be no good then to have it on people's phones doing nothing.

People could try and flash the mod, mess something up in the process and having a messed up phone all because they were trying to flash a mod that wasn't going to work in the first place.




Regardless, after actually getting to read though the full post of why it's no good, it actually makes a lot of sense and makes it very clear. Funny thing is that all these people claiming their results and how much better their internet was and what not, and that wasn't even the mod's original purpose. Just goes to show you can tell someone anything and they will make themselves believe it.


No we should actually try and find an "Internet mod" to smooth out the internet. I would love to mod Opera. It's the perfect browser except for it's too damn sensitive when you click links. I would low to try and fix that somehow.
 
the perfect test can be done while tethering to see how fast we are downloading, now since me and fuzzy aint running the mod i could tether and download a lets say 10 mb file from dropbox and ill take a snap shot of how fast it downloads without the mod then ill flash the mod and download the file again and see if it remains downloading the file steady, if it flutters like before the patch the myth is busted if it remains at a high pace then ill say this works.
 
I tried this when this site was real slow (servers :p) everything else was working fine (web browser, youtube, netflix). I guess when I flashed this the website went pretty much back to normal but after awhile it seemed the connection was worse so I reflashed the ROM and everything is fine so I don't know what's up with this mod. I think it was a coincidence though but I haven't used it since. :confused:
