Data Ideas for Nexus 7

We have BT internet which means we can access BT open zone or btfon in lots of places.

This and tethering to my phone.
The BT app works really well and connects automatically and easily. Pretty allow data though.
My plan from Three UK includes unlimited tethering and speeds easily fast enough for video streaming.

Karma sounds interesting.

VM is useless for streaming any media to the N7 but fine for basic connectivity. More often than not, the network is too slow. I use my VM Moto Triumph as a hotspot for the N7.

perfectranger, I have the same set-up with a VM Moto Triumph and a Nexus 7 tab but how did you get the N7 to see the Triumph??? I've tried a couple different tethering apps from the market but can't seem to get the two devices to talk. My Triumph is rooted but not the N7 (yet). Thanks for any help!

CM7 G60's built in tethering works fine on the Triumph and Nexus 7.

I use the built in hotspot/tethering in mantera's CM9 alpha ROM.

I'm curious as to why FoxFi isn't on your list? Do you have a phone on which it won't work, or other reason? It's a really good app, and you can't beat free.

I use it @ work for both my tablet & laptop (when I want to be off my employer's network.)

I've been using foxfi/pdanet tablet via Bluetooth and it works well for general web browsing but can't seem to get it o work with Netflix or Pandora though.

I had trouble with Netflix too. I just figured it was my crappy 3G signal at work.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went back and added it to the list. We should discuss phone data plans as well. I am grandfathered in on VM's $25 plan which as most know offers a very limited selection of phones. I know that if I ever want to switch phones, I will want something like the my touch which offers front video, 8mp rear camera, and physical keyboard. Which means no more VM.

CrackBaby, you should check out a used GS2 on eBay. They support HSPA 42 which is apparently as fast as LTE. Perhaps you would also switch from your VM $25 plan to T Mo's $30 plan and use FoxFi w/ it? Then you're only paying $30 per month for a smartphone and a WiFi hotspot.

Walmart is selling Samsung Galaxy SII for $299 in conjunction with the t-mo no-contract $30/5gb plan.

FreedomPop is now up for public beta. I barely use 200MB a month so this could be a way to get rid of a texting/data plan :D

Extended widgets for me. I was using foxfi on my Gnex but since JB doesn't like it I made the switch.
