data limits on all networks

On the legal side nothing will happen, they might send you a letter saying you have gone over your limit or just stop your data.

A mobile using 52GB a month is insane, I only get 40GB on my home broadband and I'm always downloading stuff like films and music and watching youtube and I've never even hit the 40GB limit

Also on a more sad train spotted moment
I could set the world record for who can rack up the most data in one month .
Childish I know .
But funny none the less

There's no doubting it's a cracking deal and they must be one of the only places that are truly unlimited.

My Mrs used to be 3, but the reception in my area is terrible unfortunately.

Yeah I have a GiffGaff SIM as well as my orange contract and GiffGaff is actually fully unlimited

They did this on Watchdog (uk consumer affairs programme) a few months ago and the way the law stands at the moment legally they can apply their version of a "fair usage policy" to their users... . in other words there is no "unlimited data" plan and they can legally start charging you after a certain amount of data usage if they feel you are "abusing" the allowance. The Advertising Standards Authority have approved the use of the phrase "unlimited data" even though the data is limited. The 80gb allowance refers to the "soft cap" i.e the data level where yo will start triggering alarms on their system and they will start monitoring your usage. Based on that monitoring they may or may not decide to charge you for any data used above that level.

Hi thanks for the last post .
The only thing is that I can't find any small print saying this
And when it says " ALL YOU CAN EAT DATA "
well I'm hungry for data and if think I'm going to test it out see how far I can push 3,s system before it go,s to depth con 5 and WW3 breaks out between myself and three .
and the way I look at it if they use this wording like all you can eat make the data fair game LOL.

I can see now why you are confused after just reading their website FAQ on all you can eat data.

It sounds to me like a customer service agent training issue.. they are still referring to the "unlimited" data rules when talking to "all you can eat" customers. I'd just go by what they say on the website (which has not "*" linking to any small print that I can see) and if you start getting stuff again from the CSAs then politely inform them that they must be mistaken .. that you are on an "all you can eat" not an "unlimited data" plan and would they mind calling their team leader?

thanks goreygirl thats much appreciated of you to respond and have a look yourself .
i will be on my guard and ready to kick off should i have any issue again

Well i have now tested three and there ALL YOU CAN EAT DATA and yes it seems that there claim is true well so far at least as i have now pushed my data use to the next level and hit 80GB in downloads this moth with 5 days left to the start of my next months allowance.
ive mainly done this as im a bit of a rebel at hart and love pushing my luck with big corporate business,s and also to test them so i can share with others who want to know how honest three are being with there customers.
sadly as much as three live in denial and play dumb on this they do throttle your data use when you hit a certain limit in this case 80GB and boy it was a a job to do as id only expect to go around the 50GB mark .
ive even gone to bed with my dhd playing tv all night just to rack the data up.
i have looked at advert after advert for three,s t,s &c,s and it even says NO FAIR USE CAPS but no were does it say they will impose throttling .
ive spoken to three about this and they did start to say there is a 80GB fair use policy but i think what they should say is THROTTLING WILL START AT 80 GB
my Internet now feels like like it,s on a 2G connection .
i have tested my sim card in a different dhd and same speed 2G and then tested the second dhd with a different three sim and very fast 3G connection so this very much points in the direction of throttling .
ive no other explanation for this .
there is no way im going to be doing this amount every month as it was an experiment but now we know the truth.
what do you think ?

This is what it says in the fine print about t-mobile's unlimited data plan.

Data: Data speeds slowed after 2 GB per billing cycle. Capable device required to achieve 4G speeds. Your data session, plan, or service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted if you use your service in a way that interferes with or impacts our network or ability to provide quality service to other users, if you roam for a significant portion of your usage, or if you use a disproportionate amount of bandwidth during a billing cycle. You may not use your plan or device for prohibited uses.

Now this months data has kicked in low and behold my internet speed has gone back to normal !
Three are still sticking to "we don't throttle you down line " pathetic god just be honest about it three !

Hi Guys,

I hope this is the right place to do this, but i need advice on how to kerb data usage on my phone. I don't have any data package, so it's chowing me alive. I hear there's all this "automatic" stuff that happens in the back ground, but I'm not too sure how to switch it off. Also, I'm within wifi range most of the day, but it still seems to use my 3G connection.

Please help!
