Help Data no longer coming in over mobile network?

I've had this replacement since January 20th. Did not have any problems setting up my google account. I even flashed to a couple of the custom roms without issues.

I noticed the past couple of days, though, that all my data (gmail, market, etc) would only happen if I was connected to Wifi.

I have the check box checked under Mobile Network Settings for Data enabled.

I have flashed back to my stock ROM and still have the issue. I checked my Virgin Mobile account to make sure it wasn't disabled for data or something weird.

Any suggestions?

when i first bought my triumph that is the same issue i had. The only time i could get internet connection was through wifi. I never not once got a connections using the mobile network. It was on. I tried everything including reading online. I spent 2 hrs on the phone with virgin and a good amount of time at the store where i bought it. In the end no one could get it to connect unless i was using wifi. They told me the phone was bad. I had to return it and get a new one. I wish i had a solution for you. I never used custom roms. It just came out of the box like that for me. I have had my replacement phone for around 5 months now. I have never had a problem with my replacement.

Anyone know if you can activate again (through the "activate" button) while on the stock rom, using WIFI? As he doesn't have 3G.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will call Virgin Mobile this weekend and see what they come up with.

Just gets a little frustrating when I am out for lunch and can't check my email.

Well, I called on the weekend and they said they would run it up the chain and have it fixed in 3 days. They did not.

So, I called back today and the support person basically had me run through the activation again and it suddenly all worked.

Unfortunately, I did not write down the sequence of numbers that he had me enter to get to the activation menu. Does anyone know what it is? And, if I flash to a custom ROM will that activation code still work?

You cannot do any sort of activating on another ROM as far that I know of. You have to make sure everything is fine with your activation on stock and then change your ROM.

I just had a similar issue to this kinda. Activated a replacement Triumph, checked everything worked, and then immediately flashed CM7 Reloaded. 3G died, waited until the next day, still dead, so I flashed back to bone stock and reactivated. It works, and now off to CM9 Alpha.

Pretty sure I didn't check 3G well enough. Google's homepage was loading despite me supposedly clearing the cache, but nothing else worked. So it just made me THINK 3G worked before flashing... and wasn't a ROM problem.

FWIW: I've had the same happen to me - I then used the "Activate" button and restored data. I think I had to reboot following the Activate, not sure.

The 2.2 custom ROMs (i.e. Minimal Triumph) have the activation app installed; the 2.3+ ones do not.
