Help Data not working

shizack

Newbie
The "3G" and bars are grayed out. No custom ROMs; rooted; WiFi is fine; voice calls and texts are working. Haven't tried sending a pic.

I haven't installed anything new lately. Last week there was a cut underground cable in the area that disrupted all data and cell/landline connections, but that was fixed.

The ol' lady's TU has a green "3G" and green bars.

Looking for some troubleshooting steps before I call the script-readers at Boost just to get walked through a data reset.

Thanks.

Attempting PRL or services updates fail with a "no network" error OTA and just keep trying to find updates on WiFi.

I did the 0.0.0.0 proxy trick a few weeks ago with no ill effects. I went to change them back to stock today and they already were.

Any ideas keep 'em coming.

I've only used PRLs that come down automatically. Never had an issue in several years of using Boost til now.

I'm out of ideas... since you're rooted use titanium backup and wipe the phone.... then use cwm to reflash the stock rom

Prolly a silly question...but did u make sure ur "Data Enabled" box was checked under the mobile networks menu?

Yep it's checked (and unchecked and rechecked ad infinitum) . Status even says connected but the bars and 3G icon remain gray and no data flows.

Thanks though.

I would always recommend going into cwm and doing a wipe cache, advanced/wipe dalvik and reboot when things act weird out of nowhere like that.

Good idea but that didn't work either. Thanks for the input.

I'll keep trying stuff until tonight. Then I guess I'll give Shanequia or Deeptik a holler ar the call center.

Same thing is happening with my warp too... haven't been able to access data through 3g for a few days now. Tried all of the above as well, no dice.

That's actually not a silly question. I had installed an app called Green Power I believe it was called, and subsequently had no data and tried everything with the phone to try to get data working.
I even uninstalled Green Power since the phone was fine prior to installing that app.
Came to figure out the next day after e-mailing Boost that Green Power had disabled data as part of it's supposed battery saver feature, clicked the data enabled button and all was well again.

Now that's just a bit too green...can't do anything the phone without the data coming thru. :dong:
Doesn't sound like a good app.

My 3G and wifi turn white or gray anytime I turn on wifi and this is the second warp to do it so I am thinking is this whats supposed to be happening? This second phone is not rooted but the first one was and it did the same...I am using a sprint PRL but it did the same with the standard boost one...I had a auto wifi app installed but uninstalled it and it does the same...I forgot to mention I DO NOT LOSE DATA...I capped that since that was the thread topic...still able to send and receive so I am confused, i just thought everyone's phone does the same

Yeah mine sometimes is white/grey but still functions fine. I have the pre installed power control widget on my home screen. The one that has wifi-bluetooth-gps-3G-data sync-screen brightness in that order. If I toggle the wifi off and then on it will go green with bars but like I said it doesn't matter because it still works. I never rooted my phone though.

If it's not seeing data, is do you have anyone else with boost around that can test where you're at? Just to prove its not a network thing. Next, if you can't update your prl, there is either an issue with the nam, and that would take a little work to fix with a program like cdma workshop. Either that or software issue. So you haven't rooted or done anything? And you haven't changed the prl?
