Data plans

I just got a free droid from a friend who got an i-phone. It is a nice model and I really like it, however I get free wifi where I live and dont need the data plan. Is there a way around having to pay $30 a month for data usage when I get the internet for free at my house??? I was told by a friend who has worked for these companies and said they charge you so they can get money out of it. Please help

Nope no way to get out of it. You have to have a data plan if you have a smartphone.

No, you don't need a data plan. You can use a pre-pay plan...I use PagePlus but I'm sure there's others out there.

Check out all the details, though--pre-pay plans are not for everyone.
