Data reception quality..razr or rezound

Side by side, my tbolt has about 7 db better signal strength than my rezound. So if that is typical, and if your tbolt reception issue is based on where you are, that would be a bad choice. On the other hand maybe your tbolt has a problem.

My experience is exactly the opposite. My Rezound consistently gets -69 to -79 dBms in an extended service area and stays connected with a stable 4G connection for 12 hours while my Bolt got -90 to -100 or more and wouldn't hold a 3G connection, let alone a 4G for more than 5 to 10 minutes without jumping through several hoops to get reconnected. It was frustrating because it worked fine if it wasn't tethered and using the hotspot, but that's what I needed it for.

I'm sincerely Glad your Bolt is working out so well for you. I wish mine had because I had it for 9 months and really did like it. I still have it, but the Rezound has proven to be far superior in every way. My Bolt had not only a problem, but many problems that I tried every hint and tip to fix without success and my experience is far from unique. You may live in an area where the Bolt has a better network connection than the Rezound and I hope you continue to have trouble free service from it. On the other hand, maybe your Rezound has a problem. Very few smartphones seem to be immune.

My friends mom bought the razr, I was helping her set it up and set up wifi for her. The raze seemed to get better mobile data signal but I got better wifi.

Where were you seeing 7 db better signal on the Thunderbolt, in 3G or 4G? I get a 4G signal in some areas on my Rezound that I'd never get on my Thunderbolt. However, I can see the Thunderbolt signal being better than that on the Nexus.

Yeah... the pocket (or almost pocketable, and also purse) version is available but it's 3 bars only since it's smaller:) Somebody please post a request on the (other) Rezound/Nexus thread and you guys can have it :) bye.

Well, since the 4G antenna is in the battery cover, and since I have both the regular and extended for both phones, maybe I should run some tests. But the dB I was comparing was as displayed by the LTE Switch app, while connected on 4G. Now maybe my rezound reception is weaker than most for some reason.
On the practical side, I had rock sold 4G on the tbolt at my desk in the middle of a WWII-era concrete and steel Navy building. With the rezound it is constantly dropping.

That is definitely an atypical TBolt. If mine had a network connection like that, I'd probably still be using it. I'm in a hospital right now and also in an extended coverage area and tethered to my laptop and my Rezound is showing -72 to -76 dBms.

You man need to have the Bolt bronzed when you finally change phones.

Make sure you're on "Performance" for your power settings. If I go to "Normal" or below, the signal drops enough for me to not care about battery preservation.

I have both...and its a real close call.

All these 4G phone has some bugs right now with LTE or data: I had to reboot the Rezound twice so far cuz it was stuck in 1X. They all seem to have data drops.

But for overall data reception...its close between the 2. Out the box I would give it to the Rezound. My RAZR wasnt on the same level until I put the latest leak for the RAZR on. Less drops with the leak too. And the Rezound does have the antenna on the battery door, that has to help.

Hard choice and good choices for 4G reception IMO.

What some ppl dont realize is that when you start going out n about around town, different states...a phone that has better reception will be better vs. one that doesnt. If I could stay in the house 24/7/365 days ..I could use any phone available and be fine.

I do, thanks. On that topic, I always swore the Tbolt reception was better when plugged into the charger, but I haven't seen that on the rezound. Then again, maybe my bolt wasn't set to performance.

I did a side by side last night with both using the stock battery/cover and they were virtually identical. Need to check the power settings on both and try now with the extendeds.
