Help Data usage concerns

I'm on o2, and when away from the office, my 500mb data is wiped out. Very frustrating as i travel alot and turning into a bit of a nightmare. love my samsung note, but is there anyway that i can continue receiving emails (200-300 a day) and have them compressed? on blackberry bold, i was using approx 150mb a month but on Samsung, have chewed up 500mb in 2 days on 2 seperate occasions.

Hi, I think that other things than email are eating your data.......
Try to install enetraffic from market (you need a rooted phone for it to work) and than you have option to filter what app can go to internet thru wifi and for 3g , so you can block everything except email on 3g ..... I think this should help...
