Data usage with Navigation App

I just got my Atrix and have been using the Navigation app that was loaded on the phone... I tried calculating a 20 minute trip and used it for a total of half the trip (basically 10 minutes)... I noticed that my phone drained about 10MB for just 10 minutes of Nav!!!

Has anyone else been experiencing this? I have a 200MB plan, and dont think this will be hardly enough at all!

If this is "normal", can someone please suggest an alternative navigation app?

Thank you in advance.

That is normal. There is an app called copilot in the Android market that will store all of the map data to your SD card so it doesn't use any data when navigating. That said, I suggest using Google Maps Navigation. Google Nav is better than any other GPS software on any platform and is better than any standalone GPS at any price point. It's also free. Your maps will never be out of date because it pulls the most recent map data from the web in real time as you drive.

The 200MB plan is a smoke and mirrors trick. Upgrade your plan. The 200MB plan exists only for convincing people who don't need/use the features of a smartphone to buy one without their bill going way up. Anyone who actually uses what a smartphone can be used for should have way more than that.

Everybody has different needs. Right now I have 200MB plan & I don't think I will cross that limit unless I go out on some trip where I use GPS, Internet out of home.. On day to day basis, out of home - I check my email few times, facebook, news, stocks, weather & sometimes navigation.

Some people even say they don't want 2 GB cap, now that's crazy..
