So, received Atrix yesterday and loaded it up. All is going well. I looked at my ATT account and saw this:

04/17 04:44 AM phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 33KB

Why would there be a 33KB outgoing data at 4:44 in the am (unless the dog hit a button)? Note: the Atrix sits next to the router and has excellent wireless connection.

When your phone goes to sleep, wifi turns off; so if an app like facebook or any with push notifactions, decides to connect to the internet at 4am and the phone has been asleep, yo0ur wifi will not be used. If you find it becoming an issue, download Qucik Settings and disable moble data at night. Also there is an app called juice defender that should do this automatically, but I have not tried it myself.

Good leads. This is what I also found. Settings, data manager, data delivery, data enabled "off" (until I need it) and social applications Sync over wifi only. That should keep it quiet at 4 am.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. What the hell is the point of having wifi if it turns off when the phone sleeps. That's how I never used more than 180 MB of data a month on my blackberry, but have used 192 MB after 12 days with the Atrix!!!

There are some things I miss about BB....that being said, is there a way to force wifi to stay on, rather than manually turn data off during the night? I'm sick of 6 MB data transfers (yes, 6 MB) at 4:00 AM while I'm still sleeping.

Of course I forgot my phone at home this morning, but I feel like I saw built-in settings you could change to not turn off wifi at night, while I was looking through all the options when I first got my Atrix.

Settings -> wireless & networks -> Wifi Settings -> Advanced (menu button to get advanced) -> wifi sleep policy -> set that to never and you should be good to go

Thank you both for your replies. I was able to stumble across that setting later in the morning (it was early when I wrote that) and mine was set to never turn off WHEN plugged in. So, that explains the charges in the evenings, but not at 4 AM when I'm asleep AND the phone is on the charger.

Does anybody know if the phone goes out of "charging mode" when it's full, even if it's still plugged in?

BTW, ATT service was about worthless in trying to help me this morning.
