Been happening periodically the past 2 days to me, all over the site. Frustrating but a necessary evil when maintaining a site. I assume of course it was regular maintenance.

Edit: seems to be happening more frequently this morning

I run several sites. Certainly not a "necessary evil", but a sign that something is seriously wrong.

Word from the boss is that some work is being done to the site and that this may be a side effect. They are looking into it though. :)

Been happening the last few days and is getting worse. 10-20 refreshes sometimes before it will actually load a page.

same here.. although it is short lived.. I keep getting messages on facebook asking me what is going on

Read what Kelmar posted above. There is some maintenance going on to fix certain bugs in the forums. Just bear with us while everything gets sorted out.

Another me-too post. I've been getting many database errors, off and on, each day. Just had one when I was trying to post in another subforum.

Almost 2 months later, and still getting frequent Database Errors. Is this "maintenance" still going on?

Hmm, now I'm getting 'nginx error!'s.
Yup, so am I:

Ok, so what the heck is this? This is what I got when I tried to go to this thread (via new posts button):

Got the same page from the Annoying Radio Shack thread. Huh?? Links to nginx news and Fedora Project.

I'm getting the "nginx error" page, as well. I have to refresh a page 3 or 4x to be able to view it. This happened both before and after I enabled AdBlock, running on Chrome.

Have a feeling I'm going to be avoiding the forums for a few days until this and the RS ad junk get straightened out, it's just too frustrating.

How appropriate to get this constant nginx error when trying to access the Database Error thread. I doubt this has anything to do with your add blocker setup, as I've had mine for months and this is just happening today (that particular error, the database errors have happened ever since I signed up with Android Forums).

Bump.

Still happening several times a day. Can an admin please look into this and give us an update? This has been going on for months now.

Yes, it has. I have no idea who is hosting this site, but it does seem as though their servers aren't very reliable. I know of a good one if anyone is interested, they host some very large, active forums I frequent and/or moderate.

Well it's being hosted at SoftLayer's datacenter. Not sure if AndroidForums admins are doing their own server management or whether they're paying someone else (a middleman webhosting company?) to manage the server for them.

Same here. :) My hosting company is amazing and could easily take care of this load, making sure everything ran smoothly.

Hmmm, haven't seen the the data base error in a few days at least. Though thats not to say that if this is an issue with the web hosting place that AF shouldn't look into a better option. I know if it gets too persistent that could deter new users from signing up/staying around

I haven't seen the regular database errors in MONTHS. Only on rare occassions do I see errors and it usually coincides with when AF backups are being done. If you're having continue problems, please follow up with screenshot, IP address and the time you got the error and hopefully we can track this down.

Rob, there's a big honking screen shot just above, in this post from 11/26, just two weeks ago. I get the regular database errors intermittently - had a few last week.

I'm getting them right now, at the time and IP address of this post. Even pages that don't give the db error load very slowly.

It took me several minutes, and several db errors, just to post this =/ Seems to be back to normal now though.
