Help Date on lock screen not displaying properly

chuck95

Newbie
My epic's lock screen isn't displaying the date properly. As you can see, today it's showing Mon May... and then the rest of the date is cut off.

This didn't used to be a problem. It's almost like the clock's font is too big, but I never changed it, nor have I even found a place to do that.

Any ideas? I've tried turning it off and on, and changing the wallpaper, to no avail.Thanks.

By the way, does anyone know today's date?;)

got that same trouble myself. I think likely all that are running the touchwiz have that issue, but I could be wrong.

Thats a bug in the os, happening even with custom roms too that are using stock fonts. The only way i know how to fix it is to change the font, if your rooted you can use an app to do this, if your stock then idk :-( maybe someone else might have a better answer than me.

No, I'm not rooted.
I can't pinpoint exactly when this started happening, but I could swear it was fine for a while after I got the 2.2 update a few weeks ago.

Its only the month of May, so far anyway. I just thought it is funny that it is printed, "May." and not "May".

Yet another F**king reason why the update was a worthless piece of shite. Mine started the same thing the minute that update came down. Along with the non-stop music alert whenever I get an email or any notification. And nobody anywhere seems to have any idea how to correct this crap?

This is a solution if you root your phone.

For the notification issue, change your notification tone and see if that helps.

My friends samsung epic is having this exact problem..

I however am not on my droid x rooted running liberty

Loclhero I have a solution for the notification problem. It drove me crazy as well. Go into your email, select an account (if you have multiple), then pressthe menu button, press more, and then select ringtone (android system if you have an app for ringtones) and then silent and ok. This should solve your problem.

Hope this helps!

Ya its a font issue in the epic's build and it sounds like it only affects the month of may. Once it switches to june it should go away.

I went into settings and changed my date and time to "manual". Changed the date to different months, and yes, it's only May that this happens.

Oh, that's good to hear! Glad it's only May that's a problem! (hopefully there will be a firmware update before next may)

Well, I'm pretty much a dork with stuff like rooting. As for the notification, nothing that I do has stopped this. I've reset to standard ringtones a dozen times and it always defaults to this weird sound. Pretty fed up but thanks for the suggestion.

Ummm...unless I'm missing something, you're telling me to just turn off the notification ringtones? That's what I've done out of frustration. Obviously I'm trying to be able to hear a ringtone when i get email. And one that does not continue THROUGHOUT the night unless I get up to turn it off.

Try selecting a specific ("system") ringtone instead of "defaut", "current" or "silent".
