Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

Why is that? That was just the ship by date on the website when you ordered.

That doesn't mean it won't ship sooner, pretty much everyone elses have.

Just read the thread.

It was the ship date on the web site. I hope it gets here sooner. I dislike my ozone more and more everyday. Not that it is a bad phone but it is NOT the Incredible.

:)

DO IT!

You won't!

Now its tempting just for the lulz....

Lexluthor: Sorry, an old internet meme popped in my head when I read your name. That was it :P

Got another Order Status: Canceled email this morning. Called them and it was the same song and dance. Mistake emails, canned message, order still active blah blah blah. I am fine waiting for the phone, it's all the bs that goes along with it. I guess I could stop calling about the messages, but what if the one time I don't call it really is canceled? Ya know? lol

That is really strange, and don't worry. I would be doing the same thing you are now, as I would be REALLY pissed if my order was canceled.

Exactly. CSR has no explanation for the email and they seem annoyed when I call. I feel like saying look, it's not my shoddy email system that keeps sending this message. lol

Same here. I'm just tired of the runaround. There is NO way that VZW doesn't know the status of the stock they are expecting and when, especially on orders THIS big. No company in their right ming is not on top of their suppliers and no suppliers in their right mind aren't keeping in contact with their buyers.

This thing of "it will ship by a date that's 2-3 weeks from now" does not fly. They need to keep their customers better updated and it just isn't happening. Especially since we already know they've BEEN shipping all the way back to last Thursday and Friday. They know how many they received in each warehouse and they know how many more are due in and when.

The problem is, if the rumors are true, it really is a chain of suppliers. We know that VZ is waiting on HTC. From what we understand, HTC however is waiting on its LCD supplier. So, at worst, you have VZ waiting on HTC, which is waiting on another company; when you start getting that deep, predictions start getting difficult.

Additionally, we also have to ask why there is such a delay on the screens - could another materials supply be falling behind? If they are, then the story becomes three suppliers deep, and it becomes near impossible to totally predict shipping times...

From what i've been hearing its Samsung's slow production line when it comes to the AMOLED screens. However I'm not entirely sure their "speed" is the problem. Perhaps Samsung are waiting on parts from suppliers, who are currently waiting on the materials to create the LEDs, who are currently...oh god O.o

Also, I might have missed, but has anyone received a shipping notification today, for any date?

I can't tell you how many times I've seen forum posts just like these over the past ten years, for a variety of things -- new hardware, video game releases and patches, MMO updates... all demanding the same thing, full transparency from the parent company. Customers strongly dislike being left in the dark. And people say exactly what you say -- that it shouldn't be this way.

I'm not sure why people think this makes sense. I understand and sympathize with their frustration, but consider the infrastructure a company would need to keep every customer aware of their own personal circumstance concerning their service or product. It's unfeasible, just from a cost and manpower perspective. Furthermore, what if any company's initial estimates are incorrect? The blowback from a missed date would result in horrendous customer perception and be a PR mess. The only thing a company can do in such a situation is give a vague date that can't go wrong and work as quickly as possible to feed their frothing customers.

I ordered my HTC Incredible this past Thursday, on May 20th. The picture on the VZW website said it was guaranteed to ship by June 11th. I take this to mean "in the worst case scenario." Verizon, like any company, is going to provide a date that both gives them sufficient elbow room for them to be sure, but not so distant as to completely dissuade the customer. Maybe it'll come sooner. The posts in the past few pages of this thread lead me to believe I'll have to wait at least two weeks. But maybe a giant order of Dincs will come into VZW's hands tomorrow, and I'll be lucky to ride the wave so soon after ordering. But maybe not. It sucks being in the dark, but there's little to be done. Patience, be my harbor.

Edit: Oh, and for perspective, the phone I've been using for the past 2 and a half years and will be using while I wait for my Dinc is a Samsung Gleam. That's right, I'm still using a "feature" flip phone! Ahhhhh....

That's very true, but honestly I have never been through such an ordering/shipping/information (or lack of) nightmare before. I suppose I'm further angered by the fact that BEFORE I ordered I was told I'd have it in 2 days, NEVER informed of a backoreder... granded, the date on the website (at the time I ordered) did say shipping by 5/28, BUT... I specifically asked about delivery time BECAUSE of that notice on the item and they still said 2 days.

As most of us have, I'm sure - I have placed lots of orders for lots of different things, and had shipping dates missed or changed for this or that reason, but this is by far the worst occurance (personally). AI've always been able to get a reason and an accurate shipping time in the past.

Just called the VZW store to check if they got some phones in. I was told (quite rudely I might say) that they do not have any and they have no clue as to when they will get them. Guess I am becoming one of those "Annoying" customers that just want to get some value for their money!?

I balked at the idea of waiting another month to have it shipped, but my wifey declared that we just order it - and then shut up and wait. Okay, so we did. Also got a Moto Droid for the wife (it was a 2 fer 1 deal, so only paid for the Droid, and got a $100 NE2 discount. In all - paid $100!). All this on Sat 5/22.

Right, so I'm prepared to wait the long haul and shut up while I'm at it. Then I get an email Sunday night that it's been processed and picked up by FedEx. FedEx website/tracking number shows it will deliver Wed 5/26.

All I can say is - holy sh$$! That can't be right! I'm guessing we'll get the Moto Droid and still have to wait for the Incredible.

Yes, that's the Moto Droid that shipping now, not the INC.
