Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

When I ordered the phone, the person in the store said it would ship 6/18 (yeah i know how funny that sounds now!). Then that night we had to call 611 about a mix up on our account and the lady on the phone also said it would ship 6/18.

Of course the 18th came and went and by then I had been on here and knew those people were smoking something funny to give me that date.

I sent an email to customer service and they said it would ship by 7/8. Its a little sad but that actually sounds more reasonable to me.

Looking forward to going crazy (or should I say MORE crazy) with ya'll!

Welcome to the pit Shannon 6/10er here as well. At least I was told 7/1 though that's a joke as well. Look forward to going crazy with ya.

The AMOLED screen is the only reason I haven't tried to cancel my order for the Droid X. How do you tell if it has the AMOLED or the S-TFT? What kind of screen does the X have?

EDIT: According to the article, there is little to no difference between the two, but in my experience, Sony has made outstanding products. If it means getting my phone faster, and with a screen that won't come apart, then I will take the S-TFT, I guess. lol

I have read a few articles on the subject this evening and I am not to worried about it. I could care less which screen it has as long as it works and looks good. I am getting it for the features and capibilities not for a specific part. And if using a different screen will get me my phone faster, all the better.

I'd have to see this screen before I cast a vote. The Amoled is sharp and brings vivid colors.. if you are in a shaded or inside environment. Being as I spend so many hours outside the other screen might be a better choice.
Coming from a Storm I'm accustomed to looking at my screen while it's tucked under an arm pit (where the phone belong btw) Perhaps it's a non factor. But I'd have to lay an eye on it to say...

here is my timeline if people need to reference it:

6/2 - ordered incredible over the phone, assured that it will ship 6/23
6/10-6/22 - called periodically to confirm the ship date of the 23rd
6/23 - joined androidforums
6/23 - waiting for shipment notification, nothing came
6/23 - called them and they said to wait till tomorrow
6/24 - still waiting, nothing came
6/24 - called them at 3pm, found out im not getting it this week at all
6/24 - verizon called me and confirmed 5 day delay, but will call me on monday to check on the status
6/25 - different lady called me and also confirmed the 5 day delay
6/25 - found out my shipment may not go out till july 1st at best
6/25 - late in the night, i received the shipping e-mail
6/29 - expected delivery date

p.s - 6/23 - present, joined a crazy family, 'ohana

I hate the internet sometimes. People catch a whiff of something and start going wild.

Read the second half of the first paragraph. HTC running low on AMOLED stock, will add SLCD to the mix for some models -- Engadget This switch isn't happening until later this year.
 
So I ordered the incredible in store on Tue 6/8. I was told then it would be here on 6/29. Called about a week ago, they confirm 6/29.

Any other 6/8 orderers still being told 6/29? Are we all being effected by the delay?

Also, how to we get signed up somewhere online to check our order status? As far as I know, the only way to check is to call. Am I wrong?

Two days ago the CSR said it wouldn't ship for another 5 business days (6/29)

i'm so done with verizon...
