Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

On 6/21, I ordered my Incredible in the store on a relative's business account (this will be important later). A little before that, I also put my name on the Incredible waiting list at Best Buy.

Yesterday, I got a call from BB that they have an Incredible with my name on it! I called the guy I've been dealing with at the Verizon store (who has been very helpful to this point) now tells me that I can't cancel my existing order and buy the one from BB.

I realize this is a pretty unusual situation... If I stick with the order I placed, there is no telling when I'll actually get the phone. If I try to cancel the existing order, will BB be able to set me up on a business account (assuming I can get the owner of the account to come in with me)? What's the real story on being able to cancel an existing order?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to keep waiting for this thing, but I have a bad feeling this situation just can't be worked out.

The way I understand it.. you can refuse delivery and the store purchased phone will be returned. Now I have no idea what that does to the business account you were signing up on. I have never dealt with BB for a phone so I don't know how that works either. I guess I'm not much help... I'd do some calling to customer service etc and see if there is something that can be done that doesn't end up costing you extra. I sure can't blame you for trying to get the phone in your hands a bit earlier.

The first day of playing with the Incredible went by so fast that I didn't even have time to jump on and say how great it was after receiving it (sorry about that for all of you waiting on updates). For anybody still waiting I was a 6/8 in-store order (processed same day) promised 6/28, 6/30, 7/1 and 7/9 ship dates. It actually shipped overnight shipping on 7/1 and arrived yesterday around 2:00 PM. It is so amazing that this phone does SO many things that I completely forgot about which ringtones I wanted, lol. in the brief time I used the Moto Droid I actually grew quite fond of the Motorola "Drooooiiiid" notification sound, so I found a copy of it online and added it to my Incredible as well. All I can say for anybody waiting is that it is SOOOOOO worth the wait. I also read an article saying that an OTA update is coming that will allow the DInc to act as a 3G Wi-Fi hotspot and record 720p video just like the Droid X, so if either of those two features were causing you to question your decision then you have nothing to fear.

Thanks for the update. It's REAL slow in here this holiday so your post is refreshing. Sure it makes us want our Dinc all the more but it also gives us a good reason to hang in there.

Thanks for the info. I thought about the refusing the phone thing, but I'd really rather have it canceled first.

With the holiday weekend, I have to get this figured out by Monday or else they'll give it to the next guy on the list.

Right.. I'd talk to cs and see what they will do for yas. I'd make certain you get it in writting as well lol. I KNOW they have canceled orders.. have seen some canceled in here that didn't even want canceled. So that's where I'd start. But yes.. I'm sure BB isn't going to hold that hot Dinc for long.
 
I just want this next week to pass by as quickly as possible...Hell I'm not even scheduled to work this much this week so it's going to pass by really slow.

It's been pretty quiet here since i left for part of the night. I was able to get my mind off my phone by going to go see some fireworks, but then again I waved to it twice while passing the sorting facility lol ahh i'm crazy

I went about doing my errands and came back to my house and there was a package there from fedex (big box so obviously not my phone - something else) and there was a sticker posted to the door saying delivery attempt but with no information on it. :eek: I ran inside, refreshed the tracking page that hasn't been closed since I received my number, and it still said "At dest sort facility LONDONDERRY, NH" and I called FedEx again just to see if that slip was for some reason for my phone. It wasn't and since it is Verizon they will not allow anyone to pick it up at the facility until AFTER the first delivery attempt. Grr you Verizon.

Now I went around and gathered up some kittens all because of you Verizon and FedEx for not sorting out the packages and letting me get my phone which is less than 10 mins away.

Haha yeah I've been wanting to get a kitten picture out there before I actually got my phone and was just waiting for the right time...I thought I was going to have to wait until my phone was delayed.

Love the PR one, I've seen a bunch of those type of pics with soldiers holding up signs in which the other person has no idea what it says and just have a huge smile on their face - hilarious! looking forward to the entertainment when you post up your collection of pics i'm sure you're holding on it lol

Happy 4th of July, everyone! I hope that all who have not received their orders yet are distracted at least for today by holiday activities! For those receiving this week, you are in for a treat! This phone is fantastic... it's lightning fast, has a kick a$$ camera, and I'm still discovering all of its capabilities. We've said it before, while it's agonizing to have to continue to wait, you'll really be glad once you receive it because you'll find it was totally worth your time! ;)

Just wanted to say hi to my family/fellow hostages and wish you a happy holiday weekend! :D
