DDMS Screen Capture - Offline

Guys,

Im a new account here, obviously, but Ive been using droids for awhile. My company produces online training material for one of the major manufacturers. For the last # of years we've always used DDMS (SDK) to screen cap the phones we get so we can then use the caps in our training material. We recently got a new device and I had to first do a quick search just to figure out how to get to the developer options. At any rate, I have developer options on, usb debugging on, and everything else seems to be installed, etc. I plug the phone in and run DDMS and it lists it, but just says "offline." Ive searched for a solution to attempt to get this working, to no avail. Ive asked our contacts with the client and did what they recommended, but no luck. Have any of yall run into this with new versions of Android? 4.2.2 ?

Help please!

Thanks

Welcome to the forums :) We're glad your here.

I'm suspect that the adb on your android (4.2.2) is newer than the adb on your computer. You will need to update the adb to the latest for it to function. I had a similar issue with my Nexus 7 but an adb update on the computer fixed the issue.

WHOA! Great news. With DDMS running and the device appearing offline, I unplugged the phone and then plugged it back in. It popped up asking me about RSA key. I just hit "always trust this computer" and it worked. Hopefully if anyone else stumbles upon this it might help them. In summary - I removed SDK from my machine and redownloaded it as well as removed the old manufaturers driver and reinstalled it.
