Help Deactivating (??) Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

HI, I have a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 4G LTE which I have to activate in order to convert a phone line I have with Verizon. Long story but I am trying a get rid of a Verizon wireless phone line I no longer want without paying the termination fee (this is all perfectly legal on Verizon's part--in fact they suggested it). Once I activate it though I want to sell the tablet (I don't want that either). Of course I want to sell it to someone so they can use it with their own Verizon account. How would I go about doing that? I just want to sell the tablet so I can get my money back for it but obviously don't want it attached to my own Verizon account. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

Once you have deactivated the phone through Verizon, there should be no problem. Be sure to perform a hardware reset on the tablet, though.

The problem is I can't deactivate the the phone line. The phone line (which now has an old unused phone on it) will be converted to a line for the tablet. I have been told twice by Verizon that this is possible. However, I don't want the tablet or the phone. The phone line will still exist. I want to "prep" (because I can't think of another word) the tablet so I can sell it and it can be activated on someone else's Verizon account.

You would have to transfer that phone line to something other than the tablet.

Or cancel the phone line... is there an early termination clause on the tablet? If not, then hold on to it for a billing cycle or two then terminate the line.

There is a termination fee of over $300. If I convert the line from one with a phone to one with a tablet the monthly fee for the line drops from $30 to $10. I have to have something attached to the existing phone line or terminate it and pay the fee. However, if I can at least sell the tablet I can get my money back on that and just pay the monthly fee.

If the tablet uses a SIM card, then I suppose you could remove that and sell the tablet. I'm with Sprint and they don't have those; I don't know if Verizon uses them or not.

Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you...

Or if you know someone wanting a tablet that doesn't have the line you can do an assumption of liability, that's what vzw calls it when you transfer the line off your account and onto someone else's account.
