Help Dead (ish) Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen ??

stubbyd

Newbie
My daughter's phone got stuck at a white screen with the M logo after an OS update the other day. We tried the usual tricks of ensuring it was fully charged, holding power button for a while, holding power and volume down or up, etc.

So we decided to let the battery run flat and then fully charge. Since then, we can only get it to the "Fastboot" screen and it doesn't matter what option we take the phone just dies / switches off.

So... is it completely done for or is there something we can do? Is there an app I can download and run (Windows of Mac) to access it and do whatever to help recover it at all?

Is the battery charging? It may just be too low to boot.

Battery is charged - fastboot screen says 'battery ok' and typically , after I've posted my plea for help it appears the phone is actually doing something. I'm now attempting a 'wipe cache' as I read that can help.

Hey guys, I've moved the thread over to the Moto G (2015) area for you...

Perhaps this is a common issue or someone else w/a Moto G has experienced something similar...

Best of luck!

:)

:)

Thank you ... for some reason I didn't spot this section.

UPDATE: the phone is now stick at the white screen with blue M logo on it. Don't know how or why but I got it past the original issue. Battery has 100% charge.

Umm... the OPs post was about a Moto G 2nd Gen... the Moto G 2015 is the 3rd Gen, the correct forum for this post technically would be Moto G 2014. :)

If you have/had USB Debugging enabled on the device and you can get back into fastboot mode,You could try this:
http://www.droidviews.com/restore-moto-g-2014-to-stock-and-lock-the-bootloader/
I will see what else I can find.

Edit: Here is something else:
There might be multiple versions of the XT1032. Figure out which you have, then grab a 5.0.2 stock ROM for your model of XT1032:

You can get the "platform tools" (such as "adb" and "fastboot") from the latest Android SDK here:https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

1) boot to recovery
2) use 'fastboot' to flash stock
3) boot into stock to make sure it works
