Help dead screen?

ok so yesterday night.. i was using my phone.. and all of a sudden, a vertical strip down my phone about an inch wide straight down just didnt react to any touch at all. i was typign texts and the "i"s and the "k"s and "m"s werent registering...
i tried rebooting at least 6 times to no avail..

i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem with their incredibles and if theres a fix for this... i dont want to send back my AMOLED phone for a superLED one...

I don't have any advice on fixing your problem. I just stepped in to say I'm on my third refurb and all were amoled screens like my original. I have no idea if that's just my luck or what... just saying.....
I hope you can get your problem fixed.

That sounds like a broken digitizer, not the amoled display itself. I have replaced my digitizer and it really is not difficult.

Have you ever dropped the phone or anything like that?

well i have dropped it before but it still worked... plus i have a case on it so any drops from like table height wouldnt be that damaging i hope... nothigns cracked on my screen... its just that the touch response isnt working for like a vertical strip down the screen...

it was weird. i was leaving the building and trying to type a text message to my friend and then it just wouldnt react to a few letters so i ended up typing gibberish...
and if i do replace the digitalizer would i void the warranty? would it be better for me to unroot and just send it in?

Broken digitizer from dropping wouldn't be covered under your warranty... digitizers don't normally break under typical use, but might be hard for them to prove how it actually broke. I'd bring it to a corporate store and see what they say.
