Root Dead thread.

Waiting patiently for root. I'm a noob. I had the hardest time rooting my wifes moto droid. But with a littlle help from the forum I got it done. Sometimes the instructions aren't clear and u will get frustrated. But there is always someone here to help.

Please, just sit back and watch it all unfold; there is no need at all to try to force the issue or to even cause them to attempt "final product" time frames: they are volunteering their efforts.

My guess is that they want root access as badly as any of us here. That's good enough for me. ;)

Very true man....We all want is just as bad, I mean some of the Devs (and Myself) I know well, and all have jobs and family and what not. But we are spending tons of time on this and the site going and getting Devs and checking exploits and updating everyone, trust me we WANT IT !

So rest assured we are all working hard in our free time and we WILL get this phone ROOTED!

I wish I had the knowledge to help, if Ispent as much time on just coming onto this site and focused it towards rooting it would be great but unfortunatly I'm a TechMoron haha

I have found this forum to be almost idiot-proof. When there are directions that are tough to follow or poorly written, somebody always seems to be able to break them down so that they are easier for newbies. That's my observation anyway.

BTW--I said ALMOST idiot proof! :D
 
So.......
The Devs have been working on a few pretty creative explots and a couple of them show real promise...
I wish I could give you guys better updates, I am as impatient as anyone with waiting for new mods for my phone.
But real leaps and bounds have been made since HTC released the Kernel code...

Once again thanks for the support and positivity!

This is an exciting time for Eris users. Root is right around the corner and the 2.1 OTA is creeping up on us slowly. What could be next! Data plans from Verizon starting at $15? Me actually finding a job? Google buying all wireless providers and charging $50 for unlimited talk, text and data? oh the possibilities!

I noticed that when sprint came out with their Unlimited Talk for only $49/month, verizon and AT&T weren't far behind in knocking $30 off their unlimited voice plan, bringing it down to $69.99/month from $99..
Sprint also offers unlimited everything for only $99 for an individual plan, I am hoping verizon will follow sometime soon and reduce their plans a little bit. But they have always seemed to be greedy, and im not holding my breath..


Also, Thanks again to all the Devs for all the hard work thus far, and from here on in until root is accomplished! I know they are losing countless hours of sleep, and I'm pretty sure a couple have "called in sick" to their everyday lives at least once to spend time on it..

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot.

What does rooting a phone mean?
What are the benefits of rooting a phone?
If you rooted your phone would it have an effect on the impending 2.x update?
Would rooting a phone void its warranty?

it means having pc like admin control of your phone.
you can customize, optimize accessorize your phone! :)
more than likely it will have some type of effect with regard to carrier updates but, you void your warranty anyway if u take it to verizon with a rooted phone so, may aswell stick with the community and get...basically updates the carrier at times cant get :)
or basically dont give u (multi touch on maps for example).
its called total control!
im a serious control freak and yeah....I CANT WAIT!!:D

Any warranty issues?

Any upgrade issues (by upgrade I mean future OTA or other update/upgrades, not upgrading the phone to another device)?

live wallpapers work well on the vogue-android 2.1 port which is just clocked at 400Mhz

2.1 is faster and more efficient than 1.5

It's like Windows 7 being faster than Vista. Some of the fat cut out, the new features being well programmed, and the things that are there are optimized.

you wouldn't happen to have a link to that 2.1 rom for vogue would ya? would love to have that. haven't been able to find one yet. been playing with a hero build..
