Well...Not speaking for the anybody but myself in this matter.
But I dont take donations for ROMs I do...
I love the community and hobby, thats payment enough for me :)

whah?
why not!
i understand the community of it...but your time...when we have questions!
fixes!
its at our own risk but...U KNOW people r going to take it there loading your roms :)
not saying you should have a link...BUT!
im just saying :D

The way that root and roms work and why it is taking HTC so long is the fact that HTC has to get everything working before they can release the update where the community roms that we load after gaining root always have aspects that don't work on the phone. I have used Cyanogens roms and many of the first roms ever made for android. They are usually faster but there are features that don't work and they constantly release new versions that fix this or that but then disable something else. I remember when Cyanogen released roms without BT and no LED. Then he would get that working and something else was different. If you go over to XDA and look at the Dream\G1 section and look at what they have to offer you would notice that many of the early roms had issues. look back at the channel logs and you will see the changes. Granted that now the phone has been out for over two years many are fixed and run smoothly with all aspects working it took them a while to get them right. Roms are designed to control every aspect of the phone from clock speed to wifi to ram. With a rom you can create partitions in EXT2\3\4 and expand the internal ram onto your SD card. Then you run into the issue of when you take out your SD card your phone wont work because part of the critical memory is on it so their is no switching out card. Then you need to get a higher class SD card because if you expand the internal memory onto an SD card your phone becomes only as fast as the card you used. If you look at your SD card there is a number stamped on it with a 2 from HTC. class 6 is the fastest you can get and highly recommended to use when doing this. You can also load Market apps that let you control your clock speed and monitor temp. Basically once we get root all things are possible but only to the extent of the Devs that create the rom. Devs can mix and match features from different Android versions together to get all the parts they want on a phone to workthe way they want it is what makes this soooo important and also makes this phone really fun. They can take Rosie and put a little Sense into it call it theirs and offer it to you to load. Their is also the part of A2SD, it is where you actually transfer the Apps 2 SD and in turn free up you phone. Anyways, we will be able to do anything the devs can think up to our phones and that is what makes it fun.

LOL...I hear ya...
But all the WinMo stuff I learned (ROM Cooking) was from great chefs that took the thier free time to teach me and never asked for a cent.
I feel like lots of others do, that just passing along some knowledge or the fruits of knowledge to others is enough.
No slant to people that do take donations, they deserve it!
But I am lucky enough to not have to worry about doing this for money.

I belieive that those who want to go to a 2.1 right away should look into Open Eclair, based off the AOSP 2.1.

This is exactly what I want when root is available. A stock clean ROM of Android 2.1 on my Eris.

Thanks for all your hard work fellow developers and acidbath5546!

Look on Sprint HTC HERO forums has to do with faster phones, because of memory and RAM allocation. Also it works very well with SetCPU.

Sir Smacky: You must make this available for my Eris-My lock screen needs this; It looks like most of us from time to time.

did anyone hear that you can get ROOT if you go to Stewarts?
they also have Diet ROOT (along with a variety of other tasty beverages)

What do xda developers drink while on the job?

What the people asking "when is 2.1 coming out?" and "what's a root?" in this thread will end up doing:

Also, will a root allow me to tether without having to worry about PDANet's trials and what not? Can I just...do it? And not worry about another program?

Proxoid. You can use it right now. Unlimited. Free.

With my experience with Proxoid, it was VERY VERY SLOW! Like dial up!!! IMO. Just pay the 30 bucks and be happy! I love PDANET its like surfing on cable internet! I watch youtube and download torrents every now and again!!! The 30 dollars I spent I have made back already! I have had pdanet for 3 months now think about what that would cost having cable net or something. And if you are at starbucks and are connected to a WAN you can turn mobile off, turn pdanet on connect to computer and have the speed also from the net...I got rid of my internet at home and just use PDANET! JMO...

You sure about this??? Because my eris came with a class 2 and I will be upgrading to a class 6... There is an entire thread discussing how much faster c6 is compared to the stock sd card.

If you are simply using your 3G internet connection, how are you getting cable-like speeds?

Hey all!
I will be putting out another News Release this weekend....
We do not have root, but I did just check with our Dev team and we have a pretty good new lead on Root being followed up on as we speak!
I hope to be able to have good news sometime soon.
Also i will be releasing some failed Exploit trys to the community this weekend, just in case anyone wants details on what is being worked on or wants to learn or follow up some more.

Thanks for all the support! The whole team really appreciates it!
