How to configure Android's *internal* taskkiller - xda-developers

Something I stumbled upon today, I know others have mentioned changing up the internal memory manager, but this was the first real explanation I've seen of it. They also provide more evidence that 3rd party task killer apps aren't the way to go. Another thing to look forward to with root!

Keep up the good work Dev Team, and thanks for all the effort you're putting into this!!

Hey gotta put some humor back into things. But in all seriousness, those devs are probably putting in a lot of time, effort and frustration to crack this suborn little phone. I know my CS but I'm a network guy not a programmer and I can't even begin to wrap my head around how they do this stuff.

They'll figure it out, I'm sure of it. I appreciate their efforts, we all should.

Our Dev team will pull through. They are strong in the force.
- My idea would be just to break into HTC with some of the Devs and let them have their way with the computers there. The Eris is also strong, but has been tainted by the dark side. Forget 2.1 i just want root. We're all gonna get shafted anyway after the next OTA

I was really looking forward to being a part of the google movement -- I thought I found a company that actually shared my interest in making every device way better than it is intended to be. Guess I was wrong. Or is the big V at fault? In any case, google lost me. From now on its rootgle for me :D... the only question is -- where on earth is that exploit?

i'm game!! when and where? :p

Well, look at this the N1 was rooted before it was out because it was completely stock 2.1 and the SDK was released right away. Look at the Droid barely tainted by Motorola and it was rooted very fast. The higher Google/Manufacturer the easier the root is.

so acidbath you game for going straight for HTC headquarters?
we could get some spray paint and right Iphone rules on some windows so they'd never know it was us=]

LOL...I dont know if I could bear to write Iphone rules....doing that might cause me to spontaneously combust...

HAHAHA
that would confuse them
So not only would we be able to root our phones. But we'd get to see(or take) some of the new stuff they have going on! Anyone want an Incredible or N1 a few months early?

Next stop is The Googleplex!

Bro, score me a Scorpion while you're there. I'm good for it:D

has that thing been rumored for Verizon? Last i heard about it that thing has Froyo(2.2) 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon and WiMax The phone itself sounds like a Nexus one Killer, but will it hit the VZW?

is the Eris doomed to the shadows after March?

You know, I'd forgotten all about using my favorite keyboard smileys, being as how we have those handy :p ;):) and :D, etc over there on the right to click so conveniently.

I love :o)

I'm going back to that (at the appropriate times, of course).

Actually, there are reports this device may not even exist. It was just a rumor and has yet to be confirmed.

Since it's WiMAX, I think it would be on Sprint since Verizon is deploying LTE for their 4G network.

I don't think we will see the QSD8672 (1.5Ghz dual core snapdragon) since it was just realeased this year and there is usually a 1 to 2 year span for integration. Any phone sporting CDMA would have to use the QSD8650 since it supports both GSM and CDMA while the QSD8250 only supports GSM. I really hope we get the QSD8650A since it is a die shrink of the QSD8650 from 65nm to 45nm. The dieshrink will mean lower power consumption and binning up to 1.3 GHz instead of just 1GHz.

You guys are so funny. I love reading this thread and just ROFL at some of the comments.

Keep it up everyone. :)

And thank you for trying to root the phone for us. I have a CS background too, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to hack this thing...

@smacky

Go Setting >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> Sense >> Clear Defaults

Then click home and check use this default and click Home

or install Homeswitcher from the marketplace

This is great works well and i enjoy the faster load times and almost instant access but since turning home on my alarm is not working. Is the alarm clock settings tied to Sense?

If not do I have to reset my alarms? Nothing in settings seems to get it working in vibrate or tone?

Has anyone else come across this?

I use gentle alarm and it works but I also use the stock timer a lot and it works
