I restarted my phone, launched Astro and it's process listing tool. Rather disappointed in how many apps are running ! Sense is... ;-( So is Footprints. Too many to type out on my phone but I will from my PC.

Peep is not, nor is Stocks though.
Sorry for the delay. I have had these written down for days now....

Okay, I restarted my phone and only launched Astro and it's process/task manager. All of these are APPS, though some run as a SERVICE too.

Code:
PC Synchronization Voice Dialer HTC Sense Messages Dialer
Google Partner Setup Keepscreen* BlueRSS* Advanced Task Killer*
3G Watchdog* Touch Input Mixzing Lite* ColorNote* Footprints
Weather Widgets* Smooth Calendar* OneClick Widget* Clock Calendar
Handcent SMS* GMail Android System Lockbot Pro* BatteryLife*
Astro* Mabilo Wallpaper* DigiClock Widget*
The ones with "*" are apps that I installed and therefore wouldn't be running "out-of-the-box".

Interesting to note (get another "do you need a task killer" debate going): Many apps go away on their own. I swear, I checked one time and HTC Sense was gone. Oddly, it was back another time I looked. I may have missed it when I thought it was gone. Google Partner Setup and Footprints have fallen off the list, if memory serves me right.

so acidbath you game for going straight for HTC headquarters?
we could get some spray paint and right Iphone rules on some windows so they'd never know it was us=]

I have $5 dollars on gas to the HTC headquarters in Seattle, WA. But I'm just there to get my hands on the Incredible!

Not sure how good the optical crap they put in place of the trackball is. Putting the phone in your pocket is a gamble in fear of scratching the lens or whatever it uses to sense input.

Maybe I don't know what exactly it is either the Legend or the Incredible has, but it's basically going to look like an Eris.

i'm kinda curious about the track pad and what it uses to function. I would be a little skeptical about putting it in my pocket if it could scratch the optics. The Incredible seems like a grown up eris with its looks while the Legend is more of the grown up Hero. I hope we Get the Incredible mid spring, that phone just looks DAMN good.

I'm with you on the incredible. I had the Imagio with a 3.7 in screen and that is a sweet spot for screen size. Put android 2.1 in with a snapdragon processor and I'll have that as my next phone!

LOL, finally got Chrome to work on this damn Live CD of Linux Mint now I never want to turn it off... Anyways I become more and more excited for root as I learn about more and more things I can do with it...

Me too! The one thing about Android that is most appealing to me is how much I can play with it and customize it... root will take that to the ultimate level!

Go devs!!

just curious...the iphone when its jailbroken had the issue of being "rickrolled". do we have any known security features we can apply to droid once we root this puppy? I mean even if we dont i will...just NO mobile banking for sure! (even though i dont do that now...).
im learning alot about infosecurity and mobile...is the "new frontier".

Not really...the Iphone is its own seperate demon...
As far as security is concerned...I dont really think there has ever been an issue like that with Root/Custom ROMs....
Android is much more like Windows Mobile in that respect....There are some tools that will be built in I am sure...Not really my area of expertise though...

Small but awesome update guys:
A couple of our Great Devs have actually got an EXPLOIT working!!!!!!
They are are just trying to figure out the other half now, getting the PAYLOAD to work!

Great progress!

Ya considering that I don't fancy turning the machine off and switch to windows, but if it's the only way I will.

Fantastic! This just made my day. Pardon my lack of knowledge but what is the payload?

payload i guess is the files and what not that make up a ROM

they found an exploit (i guess that is like the opening in which to shove things into) now they need to figure out how to get the ROM through the opening and load....

:D :D

Pretty much...
Its like we were able to finally kick the door down, and finally found a hack/way through the code...
