The nexus one is already rooted and cyanogen Twitter / Steve Kondik: Will have a mini-N1 update ... is working on it.

Yeah we were talking about this on XDA as well. Even though it's still not a deal breaker, if you do like it, it's already in process of being solved. Maybe Google didn't want to break patent laws, so it'll be taken care of by the users. Thing of beauty.

My concern is more toward the whole no upgrade / family plan thing. Kinda strange... I'm hoping maybe they'll allow it with the Verizon system since we will be limited strictly to the locked version. Probably wont happen though.

The PC/Mac comparison is an interesting one, but I'm not sure how useful it is beyond a first glance. For starters, in terms of feel, I definitely think Android is more linux-y. (I forget who I should be ^5-ing for bringing Linux into this analogy first.)
