Help Dealing with Two contacts accounts

By default I have my gmail account, mainly only for market purchases etc. My contacts and schedule are from an exchange account, and I do not have my gmail synced for those. What appears to be happening is my contacts on gmail (old) are being linked to my exchange contacts and when I update the contact, it actually updates the google one. Any ideas how to remove your google contacts. I have google contacts that I used to sync to exchange but the database is old.

All I can tell you is that you can "link, or merge" two contacts by longclicking on one, but I have no clue how to choose what type of contact "google, or xchange" to update...
