Decreasing internal memory

Txuko

Lurker
I have a smartphone with Android Froyo, rooted and with almost all the apps moved to SD but the internel memory decreases continuously.

Hi Txuko, and welcome to AF :)

App data also live in internal storage. Try looking at your apps sorted by size, or even data size (if the manage applications menu in Froyo doesn't do that then there are apps, such as Quick System Info, which do) to see whether any are using very large amounts of data.

App caches also use internal space - there are plenty of cache cleaning apps you can use to clear these all at once, or you can clear individually using the system menu.

also any app that downloads emails is going to use the internal storage. my father in law had 1.5 gigs of downloaded emails on his phone.

Actually not any app: there are email apps that let you store messages in external storage. Kaiten mail (paid app from one of the K9 developers) is one I know of that has this option, and I'm sure it's not unique.

But most email apps, absolutely correct. Even if the app supports external storage that may not be the default.

I had used DiskUsage app to verify the space used by all the apps and there are no app using a high amount of space. I also have used CoolCleaner app to clear the cache and the history of many apps.

The mail app I use is the default: Gmail. It is a very good candidate for the problem because I receive a lot of mails with the phone but the data or cache are not big for that app. Maybe it is saving the mails in a place hidden for the application managing programs. The app does not have an option to delete the saved mails. Any clue?
