Dedicated camera key??

Is there ANY way to assign a dedicated camera key on the motorola atrix? Is there a program that can do this? Please help.

There are only 3 buttons on the atrix, and two of them serve as a zoom, i don't think you can use the power buttom.

Since I couldn't use a dedicated key I opted to double tap the home key to launch the camera....I'm actually pretty happy with that.

i''m pretty sure that she meant a dedicated photo capture key, in which case, you're out of luck. taking pics certainly IS awkward.

Yes. That's what I meant a dedicated photo capture key. A button you can press to snap a picture. Guess there's not. Thanks everyone. :)

I would give up the zoom in/out function of the volume keys in favor of a shutter button.

The zoom function on this phone is not really an optical zoom, its a digital function, more like crop+enlarge. you get a bigger image but less resolution which can be done with many photo editors..

I haven't tried this, but a quick google search gave me this app: Volume Key Camera Shutter.

If you want to try it out and report back. It seems like it doesn't work for a number of devices from the comments.

I can confirm this works on the atrix. Nice find. However, you have to use the app camera, would be nice if it modified the stock camera app to use the volume shutter feature. The apps camera has no features at all. No way to zoom, change res or anything

****UPDATE - after doing this, I decided to look into the settings of my favorite camera app and found that in camera ZOOM FX you can change the default volume key assignment to take a photo. MUCH better app than physical shutter!
