Help Default android browser not working - Optimus one p500

Hi,

I am able to connect to the internet through Opera and skyfire but not through the default browser. The biggest problem is that the default android browser was set as the default option to launch Google voice search - so now Google voice search too is not working since I can't launch it using Operamini. Pl help - it would be great if I could get the default browser to working state, if else is there a way atleast to change the default launcher for Google Voice search to Operamini so that I can use the Voice search app atleast. This may sound silly - but i really don't know how to change the default launcher for Google Voice search to Operamini!

Hi raaj129,
I have been facing similar problem since start. Although I could use apps, I could not access internet through default browser. Didn't tried any other browser.

Did you got any success with default browser yet?

Hi pankaj,

The default browser works with wi-fi but not with the regular 2G connection on the phone. Operamini does the job without any problem. So use it.

yes, I figured that out few days back. I had similar observations. Still somebody has to figure out the solution.

I am also facing this problem on my lg optimus one. this was not solved even after upgrading to android 2.2.2 . If we are not able to figure out a solution, is there a place to let lg know about this.

since, it got worked up with Opera, I did not spent more on this

and what's new with 2.2.2 ?
I got mine handset in Jan. must be with lower version. I didnt got any system prompt for the upgrade

Hello Guys,

I was facing a similar problem. Whenever i tried to open a link from Twitter, it used to open with the default browser and it would never open up. What you can do is clear the defaults for the browser and then you can set Opera as the default browser to open any link from any application.

To clear the defaults:

Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications >> All >> Browser.

Under Launch by default, select clear defaults. Its done. Now, you can go back to the application and open a link, it will ask you with which browser you want to complete the action. Just select Opera or any other browser and you are good to go.

Thanking you

I was facing the same problem. The problem is not with the phone. Its with the service provider. If you use airtel here is the settings that worked for me.
Create the new APN (u can give the name Mobile Office). Leave the existing APN unmodified since you might need it in future if this does not work.

Leave everything as the default, except the APN, which has to be airtelgprs.com.
MCC and MNC stay at their defaults of 404 and 49, respectively.
Also, I had to pick the APN and reboot for it to take effect.

If above thing is not working try this. (For me the above instructions worked)
Set the following:
Name: airtel mobile office
APN: airtelgprs.com
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
User Name: Your mobile number preceded by 91
Password: <not set>
Server: 202.56.231.117
Leave everything else as is.

Please note that every single time u modify or create APN u ve to restart the phone.

Note: I got these details on another forum. These instructions were posted by a person named Steve. Thanks to him.

Cheers

The problem is not with the phone. Its with the service provider. Can't agree more. I will try what you say later. Thx. I am wondering why not change the default browser?
