Help Default Contact Saving??

On my wife's new Optimus T, how can I set the phone to automatically save contacts as google gmail contacts? It keeps defaulting to the stupid t-mobile contacts and then they won't sync with gmail.

It gives me the option for t-mobile, SIM, and google, but I can't find a way to change it to default to google. Is there a way? PLEASE let there be a way so I don't have to fix it for her all the time! :D

This is why I love my Nexus One so much - No carrier software to crap it up!

It does seem strange that the default setting can't be changed in that menu. Every new contact entered must be manually set to Google for syncing.

I'm thinking that because Exchange and other systems are being used more and more, some carriers are just letting the Google setting appear as one selection rather than a default.

I know this is outdated, but I did confirm with Tmobile support. The Tmobile sync is the default. The default cannot be changed. :( Which means A) Manual entry for all numbers (no "Save to contacts") if you want them to sync with gmail; B) Export/Import CSV to SDCard if you accidentally save one to sync to Tmobile; C) Have to select gmail each time you create a new contact.

Very customer un-friendly. So much for android being the user-customizable OS it is advertised to be. Oh well. Since I know all providers are starting to do that, it's not much better going anywhere else.
