Help Default Launcher not staying default

Something recently changed on my S3. I've been using NovaLauncher as my default launcher. Now however, periodically (quite frequently, really) when I press the home button, it brings up the "Complete Action Using" window with Nova and Touchwiz as the options. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to fix it?

The default got corrupted. Press the "use by default ..." check first, then choose Nova.

If it still happens, get a "default program app" and set it with that.
 
Like "default manager" app.
I read something pure similar to this earlier but cant remember what site tbh...
 
I installed the "Default App Manager" app. The behavior continues. As a reminder, when I press the home button, it brings up the "Complete Action Using" window with Nova and Touchwiz as the options. This happens a few minutes after setting Nova launcher or TouchWiz as the default. I checked the "Default App Manager" app and it should that there was no default set for Home Launcher setting. Any ideas?

This started happening to me with all app defaults starting to not stick. Mine started with the call app not staying default, then others, launcher included.

I tried toggling defaults, I had tried uninstalling competing apps (if it was phone, in uninstalled tango because it was the other option and installed back.) problem came back. I used the default app manager, that just let me select the app easier, but still forgot. This issue was just annoying.

I finally just installed a custom rom off a complete wipe, so more like a factory reset was what my fix was. This issue was what actually pushed me to install a new rom. I have not yet experienced the issue on the rom i am using (hyperdrive).
 
Yeah it was probably the factory wipe that fixed it but anything that gets someone onto a custom rom and off samsung software is all good :D:beer::beer:
