Default Map app

Hi all,

I use Google Contacts and sync between my phone and my Gmail account. I've noticed that when I open a contact and go to the view the contact's map it opens HTC Locations rather than Google Maps. I've gone to Settings > Applications > Manage Apps > and was going to clear defaults but the option is greyed out for Google Maps and Locations.

Any ideas how I reset it back to the default?

Cheers
Dave

Do you have the Integrate Google Navigation checked in Settings -> Locations?

Yeah it's ticked, although it doesn't seem to make a difference if I untick it.

When I went to manage apps, I tried clearing defaults on the following:

LocationPickerLaputa
Locations
Locations Launcher
Locations Widget

... and the clear defaults option is greyed out. Am I going to the correct app to clear default?

Yeah, that's the correct way of doing it.

I've just had a play about and I can't see any way of making maps the default. Could be unchangeable and HTC's way of forcing you to use their software?

Bugger, really don't like Locations, it's too slow and cumbersome (even if the map is on the phone!).

It didn't always used to be like this, it used to just open Google Maps (no prompt to ask which app to use).

Its possible not a big help for you but if you go in via Google maps, there is then an option to select a contact you want directions too. Agree its a pain contacts defaults to HTC maps
